“Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

After an exhausting safari trip in South Africa, staying at a 2 star accommodation game reserve
this resort was paradise. Private villa with pool, sea view, sunshine. Clean, fresh and beautiful scenery in a tropical garden. The restaurants provided a delicious choice of food and menus.
Delicious cocktails by the pool, excellent service and The Prof was very chilled and happy.
Would love to visit again, but a long way from the UK.

Room Tip: A villa with a sea view

We stayed for 12 days to relax before the birth of our first baby. I was searching for a perfect hideaway end of January with warm temperatures, easy access to the beach, a private pool, good service, healthy food and no need for extra vaccination for the mother-to-be.
Add very lovely and caring people, super comfy villas, a perfect SPA, outstanding food, super sundowners and swimming with wild dolphins .... that was our Babymoon at Maradiva!

We stayed an exclusive Suite Pool Villa - maximum privacy with perfect access to the large beautiful beach.

Thanks to all the stuff for giving us a perfect time. Everyone was so easy and caring and helpful! The team at the restaurant went everyday the extra mile to make us happy and took care of the special needs of an expecting mother.
The guys at the beach bar delivered the perfect drink at the perfect time.
When we planned our daytrips with a rental car, everyone from the front office, the beach bar, the restaurant or the boat house spent us some minutes to explain the secrets spots and perfect routes to us.

Special thanks to Vikash, Akeel, Nirvina and Jeshika at the Coast2Coast: you made us smile every time. Warren, Ludowic and Olivier took perfectly care of us at the beach bar.
Not to forget Stephanie at the front office - we enjoyed your help with out trips and bookings very much! And always with a smile on your face!

Kamal was an attentive Manager and we loved to chitchat with him.

One little point, I would love to see new cloths for the stuff at the resort. They seemed to be a bit haggled and should be replaced by the management. And maybe the TV/Audio system is a little outdated - but we did not miss it a second...

We definitely can recommend to stay in this paradise - it won't be our last stay at the Maradiva!

Room Tip: Villa 401 has perfect privacy, super easy beach access and stunning views!

We transferred here from another hotel and had had no time to investigate where we were going, but were completely thrilled with the villa, the resort overall and the lovely staff. With a ratio of three staff per villa, service is very good indeed. Things go wrong (they always do) but at Maradiva there are people at the end of the phone to come and fix the problem, whatever it is.We ate in both halves of the speciality restaurant Cilantro, and enjoyed both meals. Not knowing much about Japanese food we paid the supplement for the set meal (steak or lobster main) which was excellent. Very theatrical cooking! My only disappointment is that, despite having a massive beautiful beachfront, the sea isn't any good for swimming because of the reef, meaning that it is about 12" - 36" deep all the way out, You can make a 20 minute walk to Tamarin Bay where there is a normal sea with waves. The resort has bicycles which we hired to ride to Flic en Flac. We also used the kayaks and the pedallo. This would make an ideal honeymoon destination but the clientele was very mixed both in terms of age and nationality. They have a good kids club and special children's menus. If we were to go back to Mauritius I'd definitely like to stay here again. Well Done to everyone and thank you for making our week so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Beach front villas are not as private, so if you want to be "completely private" at all ti...

We spent nine days around Christmas 2014 at Maradiva in one of the beach front villas. The villa was spacious and our own little pool was facing the sea, just a few meters from the beach. The whole place has a friendly atmosphere to it, as there are only some fifty villas and the staff is welcoming and friendly. We had a little mishap one of the first days and the staff made every effort to make us happy after that.

The breakfast was great, with a good selection and the breakfast restaurant was facing the sea. We didn't have half or full board but had a few meals at the resort's restaurants. The food was generally good, but a bit pricy. We enjoyed listening to the sound of the waves by our villa and relaxing.

The gym and spa at Maradiva were both excellent. We wish to go back!

Our experience was in line with most others - there's very little to complain about. Top class service, facilities, food and activities. One point I was concerned about after reading other reviews was the wifi. While the wifi did not work in our room, we immediately received a mobile wifi hotspot device and the problem was solved.

If you are looking for a tranquil place to unwind then this is perfect, if you're looking for entertainment, buzz and activity within a hotel then look elsewhere. Beautifully kept grounds, attentive staff with fantastic sunsets with happy hour cocktails.

The Spa was a very good experience although it could have done with more pre and post treatment lounge areas as I like to gently ease back in to life after a massage but I didn't feel that the areas offered enticed me to stay, otherwise the treatment rooms were very pleasant as like the treatments. As all properties of this level you are paying London prices and above but it's worth it.

There are two fine dining restaurants a Japanese and an Indian both served very good food in particular the indian restaurant however, did lack atmosphere so we only ate in each one once, we generally dined at their all day dining restaurant where the menu was extensive and there was something for everyone. We did also try many other restaurants all over the island as we hired a car and found some real gems with some very reasonably priced. Breakfast was generally good although there could have been more variety in the buffet as it was exactly the same choices every day for the 11 days that we were there, but there was enough choices in the A la carte menu as well which on busy days was a bit of a wait.

There were certain members of staff that stood out like Wesley who looked after the guests on the beach and I recall the head of house keeping Babita introducing herself to us and running her staff with military style as they swiftly cleaned our room, she was always attentive to our needs and it was very sweet when she said to me 'I like you, you have a good smile' and proceeded to create a classic towel origami style swan display on the end of our bed which we found fun and amusing, this made me feel as if I wasn't just another guest.

Verdict: great place to relax and chill and when we wanted a little more 'life' we got in the car and went to explore, there could have been a little more atmosphere and vibe in the bar and fine dining restaurants but as its a villa type accommodation you are free to creat your own in our outside living area. The grounds are beautifully kept and an absolute pleasure to walk around, beach was good enough but not as crystal clear as it could have been as there can be high level of traffic of the boats that ferried the guests out to deeper waters for activities but there were also quiet times. Overall very pleasant stay.
