Our first all-inclusive experience, normally used to more independent travelling, and we loved it!! Travelled with 3 kids aged 16, 13 and 7 and there was plenty for all of them. Delighted to be upgraded to a villa, and were spoilt rotten by the wonderful Chandan and Allen at the beach. Preferred eating in the a la carte restaurants (esp the Beach) rather than the buffet-style Kitchen, but still very good food all round. All staff incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough to make us happy despite the mixed weather!

As their motto says…. “Helping people celebrate life” and they are standing true on that.

We are Mauritian resident and we went there for our family get together, ofcourse this was not our first visit. We are used to LUX Resorts and their hospitality, for which we go back each time!

Like always, they were just fantastic…. From welcome… to rooms… to food …. to personalized service……

The service is something which makes them different from other resorts… its warm, welcoming, personalised, yet very professional…

We went there to celebrate my father’s 70th birthday….. I was bit nervous as how I will organize everything… but the team at LUX made it so simple… and took away all my stress… to ensure that I enjoy and celebrate life….

Having seen many other resorts in Mauritius… I have to say that LUX Belle Mare holds one of the whitest and largest stretch of sandy beach… and the biggest swimming pool in the central area….

One of the team member said to me that how strongly they believe that Each Moment Matters… .. and they try their best to assist their guest to celebrate that moment…

I have not heard that for the first time…. But coming from a front line team member…made me think… the amount of empowerment … which the management has given to their team…. To make their guests happy….

A truly world class resort and I am proud to say that MY paradise Island Mauritius holds this world class resort….

If your idea of the Indian Ocean is barefoot luxury, peace and quiet, chilled out evenings in luxury surroundings please don't book this hotel. I chose this based on reviews on this website and can only say I wish I hadn't.

If however you want to be overrun by people, dance music playing day and night in the bar and pool, have a room which looks like any other in any other hotel in any part of the world, eat average food and I'm no connoisseur but its about pub grub level, with an A la Carte price, get hassled by beach sellers every 15 minutes relentlessly - it would be spot on !

This hotel is big, very big indeed and would be the English equivalent of a holiday camp/butlins/centerparcs. There are so many rooms the pool is overcrowded - forget lying by the pool as you've got no chance and as for peace - try 50 screaming kids, no kids club reps in site and this is coming from a parent with a 6 year old who also thought it was too noisy and overcrowded.

5 star hotel it's not - 4 star holiday camp it is and when you think it's not a cheap holiday away with a very long flight, you'd be better off going to somewhere like Tenerife, Dominican Republic, Spain, Cape Verde or likewise and save yourself a couple of thousand pounds. You will have the same holiday and feel much less vexed because your wallet hadn't been dented to a similar level !!

The staff are nice, well at least most of them and because it's so busy it's not their fault but you just can't get the attention and the nice touches you'd expect from a property of this price. You also don't ever get asked if you would like a drink whilst relaxing, always having to make the trip to the bar and wait about 15 minutes for them to surface. Indeed a number of staff I spoke with openly admitted yes it is too busy and there are too many children.

My mother described it quite aptly - mutton dressed as lamb - how true !!

By the way just for clarity I went there when School holidays for mainstream were over not during peak Easter which apparently according to a staff member who shall remain unnamed, was even worse.

Room Tip: Book the Oberoi that's where I went - 5 star like this hotel but to give you an idea if the Lux...

We stayed in a Junior Suite, on our honeymoon. From the minute we arrived, to the minute we left, we couldn't have asked for anything more. We were greeted on arrival with fresh pineapple and a refreshing drink each which was desperately needed after the long flight. Nothing was too much to ask, every single member of staff we saw was friendly and helpful, all such lovely people. From Vijay who works in the restaurant, to Sanjiv, Chica and Vijaye at the bar, and Carun the life guard... we had great fun chatting to all the staff and felt very well looked after :-)
The rooms were very clean, and serviced twice a day. There were always clean towels and the complimentary Lux own toiletries we found to be a nice treat, very luxurious. The general hotel area was really well maintained, the gardens are gorgeous and so many pretty flowers to admire. The pond with all the fish is so tranquil, we even spotted a resident turtle :-)
We especially enjoyed the food there, compliments to all the chefs! Always a variety of food & cuisines to choose from and it was all delicious! The home made ice cream, Lux coffee and rums are to die for, try as much as you can, just not all at once!
As for the spa, wow! We took advantage of an offer on a relaxing massage which was absolutely amazing. The staff at the spa are brilliant, definitely an experience not to be missed.
There was plenty to do every day of the week, water activities, live music ranging from jazz to soul, African dancing, films on the beach, aqua fitness in the pool and board games, you can do as little or as much as you like. We were very impressed with the amount of things to do, but equally enjoyed just chatting to the staff while we had a drink. We especially enjoyed the management cocktail reception :-)
The phone home phonebox is such a great idea, and helps set the hotel apart from other places we have visited.
All in all we had the best honeymoon, and we would love to go back next year! Highly recommended :-)

Not related to the hotel but we went on a day excursion on a catamaran to ile aux cerfs which we would recommend, it was the best day, we had such a good time. Oh and make sure you get up at least once to watch the sunrise, awesome!

Myself and my wife were on our honeymoon in march 2013 (checked in March 19 and left April 3) for 2 weeks we choose the Lux Belle Mare. The resort was just amazing the staff were so friendly and always on hand to help there was not one day we could say we were bored there is always something to do. The food was great no day was the same the menu changed everyday and if we did not fancy any of the food which was on offer or we fancied something different we just asked the chef to make us something of our choice what ever we asked for was made fresh and served hot it was fantastic. We would like to say a special thanks to Ashish the GM , Sahil , Gopi , Vijay, Ramish who was there everyday and always kept us laughing, Chandani , Sanjay so many names to list but we would like to say a big thank you to all staff and the management team for making our Honeymoon one to remember. We will definitely go back next year and can't wait. Thank you once again.

The Lux Belle Mare treated us to a wonderfully relaxing and indulgent holiday. Located on a wonderful beach gently sloping into the acquamarine Indian Ocean, this hotel is a real treat. We arrived early and tired at 7.20am after the BA night flight the week after Easter and were warmly welcomed with a breakfast feast in the Kitchen restaurant, while our room was finally prepared. Service was really friendly and attentive throughout our stay with all staff intent on making our holiday as enjoyable as possible. There were various activites to keep the kids entertained, including pedallos, kayaks, glass bottom boat trips and not forgetting the daily afternoon treat of the "ICI" ice cream bar.
The alternative cuisines offered from the 4 different restaurants provided diversity, quality and choice on our week long holiday. Our room was spacious, well equipped and the turndown touches showed attention to detail. The only improvement we could think of would be to have a softer matress (our huge bed was VERY firm).
On our final morning, we were brought breakfast in our room at 4.30am to ensure we didn't leave on an empty stomach!
In short, the Lux Belle Mare has helped set a new holiday standard for us, and we are looking forward to going back in the future.

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon there in November 2012 and were surprised at how warm, friendly and good value for money this hotel was. We took the all inclusive package and found it to be good value for money. The management of the hotel group have recently re-branded the hotel chain, and I found it to be a big success. Our room was cleaned twice a day, the view from our balcony was very charming. Our room was very spacious, and the food at the main restaurant really authentic. Other people staying at the hotel seemed to be having an equally nice time, and everyone seems happy. We will definitely be going back.
