“Wonderful Maldives Experience with Angsana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

A very first trip to our dream paradise and we have gone through lots of reviews and there are so many resorts to choose from. We have landed ourselves in Angsana Ihuru, as we considered the reviews given for stay, food and reefs goodness.

Throughout our stay, we had a wonderful experience from the villa, their turndown services on our anniversary night with sweet heart shape petals laid on the bed. We enjoyed the private beach upfront where we have the kids in sight while they waddle, play on the beach and enjoying the sun and breeze. The resort is very well maintain overall. This is one of our best resort experience, among all that we have visited in Thailand, Indonesia.

We are very pleased with the food selections and good spread of buffet with varieties of desserts servings. The curry variations were especially nice with the long strain rice. They even have kids meal for kids. Shareef, our waiter is always very warmth and thoughtful in serving us and kids don't feel shy approaching the waiters too.

The small island gives very privilege coral reefs within reach from the beach. My kids enjoyed the varieties of fish they came across while snorkeling.

The best time to go, would be this period, early part of Nov- mid Nov. occasional showers only happen on our last day of stay but it's no wet blanket as the sunny side is up on us at 11am. I would recommend this resort if you are looking at family stay with great hospitality and food, and still be able to enjoy the paradise reefs of Maldives.

Room Tip: We love the sunset view, room 40-26 would be great choice.

Stayed here 4 nights, paid for BV, instead got JBV! (We used the jacuzzi only once.)
The island and resort was just as I expected: beautiful location, great, modern, comfortable villas with many possibilities to lie around and read, my favourite was the swing! Staff firendly, altough I wasn't totally satisfied with our waiter. But room attendant was very accurate, he always asked when we got out, some days he came in and made up the room even 3 times.
Reef is fantastic, one can snorkel around in 1,5 hour maybe, there is a wide variety of fish, just be patient and lucky! We have seen many sharks, 2 spotted rays and one green turtle. There is also a spa, we got a 2-hour treatment, it was really great, the girls were very skillful. But beside the spa and snorkelling or diving, there isn't a lot of things to do: they arrange some trips to Malé, local village, dolphin visit etc, so bring good company with you! Once we went to the neighbouring island to see the feeeding of rays, it is interesting. But if you want to see also the turle feeding, do not forget to bring snorkelling equipment, as the cage is not on shore (we weren't warned about this, so missed the turtles).
But Angsana seemed a better island, than the Banyan Tree!

And as I expected, it is not a cheap place: a handful of Haribo bears or chestnut is 9 Usd, as a Martini Bianco, too. A coke is 5 or 6 USD. 90 minutes massage: we got a discount, instead of USD 120 it was 95. 30 minutes head massage USD 60. Malé trip USD 60, local village 90/person.

Food: even good quality. I liked all the dinners (one day it is a buffet, the other a set menu), there is always a fish, tuna or reef fish, but nothing special, I missed red snapper :-( In-room dining is fine. Breakfast: a lot of flies in the restaurant at this time, I do not understand why they do not handle this question. Coctails: 11-29 USD (29 is a champagne cocktail), with low alcohol content.

This resort is absolutely beautiful. The snorkelling in the house reef is like nothing I have ever seen before. The island is small enough that you can snorkel around the island with ease.
We splurged and booked a private dinner after a couples massage and a private dinner on the beach in front of our villa, the memory will be with us forever. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.
This resort is for couples looking for a quiet romantic getaway. If you are looking for nightlife and plan on partying this is not your resort.

This resort like many in the Maldives is surrounded by sandbags. This did not bother us or take away from the beauty of this island. I am just writing a word of warning as I have read many other reviews where guests were angry and disappointed with the presence of the sand bags.

Room Tip: Book a beach villa with a sunset view.

This island is predestined for divers and honeymooners. It is a place of rest, relaxation and diving. We found it very disturbing that young children (under 3 years) were present and have indicated their presence by shouting at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Please, please, dear parents, let your kids at home and pay attention to the travel information!

Please also note the information booklet, which is available in the villa, which includes additional information on products, prices and local and national common practices.

Everything else was perfect:
Was promptly respond to our requests when we eg problems with the volume of the fan in the bedroom reported.

All meals were tailored to suit all tastes and guest-specific preferences and in smaller portions / pots at the buffet always fresh and hot. Almost daily, the grill master was waiting for additional meat, fish, vegetables and so on. The desserts were indescribably delicious.

Our waiter Ismael read us every wish of our lips, he was always very accommodating and in relation to additional information. Hassan, our 'chamber-maid' was very attentive and we were always impressed positive again.

However, we expected this for the price and also 5 stars.

Why not a perfect score?
The villas are really close to each other and separated only by subtle walls, so you can hear every noise, such as music on the terrace in a normal voice or e. g. the shower when you go to your villa or to dinner.
Lying in the sun in front of the villa is only possible if you do not bother to snorkelers or walkers. For two lying in the jet-pool-area may be uncomfortable.

But the next holiday is already planned to go there for diving ....

This is a wonderful little island resort with an absolutely fantastic reef. This was our 3rd trip to the Maldives (previously been to Anantara Dhigu/Naladhu & Baros) and we chose the island due to the great reviews for the reef & snorkelling - we certainly weren't disappointed. The villas themselves were good although not very large but bathroom could have been better - experienced far better specification bathrooms at previous resorts. Private garden area was lovely though.
Despite there only being one restaurant the food was excellent and varied - evening meals alternated between set menus and buffets and the breakfast buffet was very good. The reef really is the highlight of Angsana Ihuru and you cannot fail to see a huge variety of fish as well as reef sharks and rays. We didn't see turtles but lots of people did. The visit across to Banyan Tree to see the sting ray feeding is well worthwhile - we saw 7 on the day we visited.
The spa is excellent and we enjoyed several treatments including a 2.5hr scrub/massage/relaxation session - pure bliss.
It is 3 years since our last Maldives trip so not sure if this is the same across the area but there are a large number of Chinese guests on the island - and over at Banyan Tree - perhaps it's a sign of the times but something to be aware of.

I stayed here for a work trip in September and I have to say it exceeded all expectations. Our group arrived in the early hours of the morning and we were welcomed by the hotel manager and cool towelettes. Even at 2am we could see the shimmering turquoise waters, it was bliss!

The villas are spacious with your own private beach access, separate living area and an outdoor bathroom with rain shower and jacuzzi.

On our first morning we met for breakfast (they have a fantastic spread) then set out to go snorkeling... I could talk about the reef for hours. It was unlike anything I had ever seen and it was wonderful to see that they we trying to cultivate more reef.

If you are an avid diver or snorkler then this is the resort for you. It is simply stunning.
