“Tiny island, big joy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We just stayed 11 days on this wonderful little island. Arriving at this place means you don't go off it unless you take a tour or go diving. The island is small, very small and completely inhabitit by the resort. Even when the resort is full you hardly notice it. Every rooms/(house) has their own sunbeds so no running for sunbeds in the morning. The rooms are a little worndown but the beds a good, the shower is nice and the rooms are cosy and very clean. The room is kept clean by a roomboy who come in as soon as you've left, its great! Depending on the current you'll have your own piece of beach in front of you door. (We had room 114 and a beach!)

11 days of eating in the restaurant is a little bit much.. The first days the amount of choices and food is almost overwhelming but later on it gets very, very boring. Although there is always space for their delicious cakes!

Around the island lays the house reef. The best snorkeling ever! We seen more fish snorkeling than diving. Sharks, turtles, tuna, barracuda, all!
You can rent snorkeling equipment from the resort (10 dollars per day) but its better to buy your own.
When diving you"ll meet Torsten, Carmen and Guido. They are great, especially Guido. He talks about diving with so much passion.

The downside of this resort is the 4 dollars you pay for 1,5 litre of water. Every drink you take is very expensive, be aware! (Pack a little waterboiler electric waterboiler if you have the space!)
The is not alot of pampering going on but thats fine with us. Internet works incredibly slow. The little shop sells very small amounts of sunscreen (bring enough) and outrages expensive snorkeling gear..
When you have the space in your suitscase pack some snacks, there is nothing available on the island.

The swimmingpool is not big but nice, chill and has salty water (instead of chlorine)
But most of all: enjoy the snorkeling!

Room Tip: Depending on the current the beach in front of your door appears different. In our case it was in fr...

“Eriyadu Island Resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We have just returned from our holiday on this island stay from 07/10/2012 - to- 21/10/2012.
This island is trying to get upgraded they now have a new pool/coffee shop/bar and are in the process of upgrading rooms to Delux, so now expect the prices to go up a lot !!!!!.

We had a superior room 133 it was in real need of being updated, the toilet did not flush as it should and we had to use the bin liner in the bathroom to fill with water and flush at times. Also watch out for the secure latch on the door between the bed room area/bathroom as i lost count of the times i got stuck in the bathroom as this latch made contact when i shut the door HELP good job we had not locked the front door. Also take a plug for the sink as your sink plug may not hold water in the sink, the water took a long time to get hot and they ask you to save water this seems daft when we had to run water for 5 mins to get hot water (i timed it). The room was kept very clean by our room boy and he did a lovley decorated bed for us on our last night.

There is a problem with the sunbeds/covers it states in the hand outs on arrival-; you will find 2 sunbeds outside your room. ha we never did find ours with our room number on, our super room boy came to our rescue and got us 2 beds pluss mattresses (covers) witch he put our room number on and we had these for our holiday duration. Some guests got upset because of the lack of these beds. Also sun shades on the beach would be good as we were unable to sit under the trees because of the mosquetoes which ate my husband even with Deet they liked IT A LOT so take care. They only sprayed the island once while we were there, we did not go on any trips as we have done them before on our last visit in 2011 March.

The food has improved and is kept hot and replenished when low the staff were great and the service very good.

The Reef was as good as ever with many fish to look at but one man did decide to use a net to catch fish to show to his kids even as this causes distress to the fish he continued to do this even the Management told him to stop!!!!! he knows who he is.

We enjoyed our holiday but make sure that you take every thing you need with you as the shop has changed hands and now no longer carries the stock it used to now mostly gifts.

The swimming pool well the most we ever saw in the pool the whole time we were on the island was 6 people mostly 1 or 2 so perhaps it was just an investment to get an upgrade and to push up the prices.
I have looked up the cost for next March 2013 and is well over £2000.00 pp. so we will not be paying this sort of money when Jamaica 4* AI 14 nights Is £1.500.00 pp so we are very sad that the Maldives is out pricing its self there are many more places with very good reefs to see and a lot cheaper and better standard of rooms.
This island is super for its food and reef the prices for trips are very expencive, but super attentive staff and you will have a good holiday.
Have a great time.x

Room Tip: Rooms up to 139 are ok but need up dating or upgrade in resort to Delux( expencive) super rooms.

“Heaven on earth!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

This resort is ideal both for divers and snorkellers, both benefiting from the fabulous house reef - turtles, white tips, eagles rays and more plus the great dive sites around and the fab diving team. Nothing was too much trouble for Carmen and Guido, even when our reg went for a Burton on the second dive (after a service, no less in the UK). They gave us one free of charge for the rest of our stay - top customer attention! The dive boats are good, though it would help to have one with a working loo for day trips...

We chose a superior room and it was fine - they delivered new TVs when we were there but a facelift for the rooms would have been money better spent. The rooms were always kept clean but they do look a little tired. They are not well soundproofed - the couple next door had the TV on and we could hear every word, not to mention his snoring all night. All the rooms are in pairs, so it is not ideal if you are a light sleeper.

The restaurant was super and our waiter, Abdullah, could not be faulted. He provided brown sugar for breakfast ( not on the tables), a pepper mill as well and was discreetly attentive. The choice of food was good too - always a huge selection from vegetarian through curries to meat and fish - cooked in various different ways, so that even after ten days, the meals were not repeated. The chefs were great - they even gave me a plate of fruit to take diving as I am not an early bird and cannot face breakfast at 0700!

The decking area of the bar is great to watch the sunset and boats coming and going from the island. There are no flights so it is pretty quiet. There is an all-inclusive drinks package but as divers, we did not choose it. True, the booze is expensive but it's the same all over the Maldives.

All the staff were really great - they made our room look beautiful when they discovered it was our wedding anniversary. There are not too many other facilities - who cares!! However, my husband enjoyed his massage.

I would recommend this island to anyone for diving and service - just give the rooms a refurbishment and better soundproofing and it could not be faulted.

Room Tip: The largest beach area is on the north side - 221 was ours and nice.

“A perfect little island, a great pADI certified Dive center...and an outstanding house reef”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

pros : amazing house reef, great dive centre, perfect island, decent Rooms, good staff, good service

Our choice of Eriyadu was primarily based on the fact that it had its own house reef for diving...and WHAT a house reef! No photos can do justice to the myriad variety of fish that one can see at SUCH close quarters...We did the pADI certified diving course with Euro Divers there...and the entire experience was amazing! the professionalism of the instructors ( Guido ) and the diverse and vibrant coral reef with its fantastic fish in all shapes sizes and colors ... an unbeatable combination! we even saw a turtle :)

For those not keen on diving...no problem! one can literally WALK in knee deep water and see amazing fish and corals! Snorkeling too is lovely...

The resort is good value for money...its not a 5 star property, but it does not claim to be so! One can get good deals on directly talking to the resort....( Mr. Anaam....very helpful )

Ask for the Renovated rooms.....very comfortable, large... and good ACs...open to the sky bathrooms...great view....

The Bar's location is sublime.....fantastic view...and we actually saw sharks and eagle rays swimming right past us while we were sipping iced coffee :)

All in all a wholesome place...ideal for couples and families...if one wants to relax....
obviously Not for people looking for an active night life and discos!
Eriyadu is all about just you and nature...and the fishes ofcourse! :)

Room Tip: Room number 210 is the best in terms of location on the island and the view..... Make sure you time...

“Paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

We have just come back from a 12 Night stay on Eriyadu island resort. Once we booked the holiday we started to read the reviews and were becoming increasing worried that it may not meet our holiday need. However we we needn't have worried the island is amazing, The people are fantactic and made you feel very special. The house reef was out of this world, and even though we did scuba dive we saw an amazing aray of sea life including sharks, turtles rays, eels and even squid and coral from just snorkelling around the reef.
There was a large variety of hot and cold food at every meal time and the waiters were on hand to serve you drink, clear your table or even have a chat with you about your holiday, ( if you wanted, if not they were very discreet) Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff.
The standard rooms are comfortable and kept emaculately clean, with fresh towel daily for both the bathroom and the beach. The bed is turned down for you at night so after having a few long drinks on the deck bar you could just fall into bed.The furniture in the room is basic, but as we didn't spend any considerable time in our room if didn't matter to us. There was a much or as little to do as you wished, with daily excursions ,Spa treatments, BBQ on the beach, Suba diving, Snorkelling or just relaxing and reading, we could not believe how quick the days went. The Gym was not in use when we went but even though it was important to us at the time of booking, it turned out ok as,we had plenty of exercise swimming and snorkelling. We were in room 164 and although this was classed as a garden view it was only a few steps from the beach. We are already planing our return trip.
