We have just returned from the Gili Lankanfushi. This was a family vacation. We were a little doubtful about booking the water villas but still decided to go for it. The entire experience from reservations to the drop off back to the airport was just perfect. We did check out amazing properties all of which looked equally awesome. booking the Gili Lankanfushi was the best choice we made. The hotel is eco friendly to the core. Waking up to a yoga session, the spa treatment, the snorkeling experience ( With kids !!!) was so well taken care off. The Water villas are amazing, spacious, breezy.... simply awesome. Whatever you see on their website is exactly what you experience. Our Ms Friday ...Momoko was the most polite person I have ever met. She accommodated our every need. The management John, Alec, Imraan would always check on us striking up a friendly chat. Alif at the main restaurant took care of our every need. Cheers to Aaka at the bar.... spot on drink....cheers !!! From the start to the finish it was a truly awesome experience. The entire concept of the Gili Lankanfushi is unique. We actually left the jetty with a heavy heart. We are heavily endorsing the Gili experience out here at home. Do not hesitate in choosing this property. A loud cheers and thumbs up to the Gili Lankanfushi who made our experience memorable....

I must admit I spent hours reading the reviews left by co-travellers on resort hotels in the Maldives. Then I found what seemed to be the perfect place I was looking for at Gili Lankanfushi. Now that I actually have come back from a week stay, I can confirm it fulfilled all my expectations and even more : the location and the villas are perfect, the water and the snorkelling superb, the food is...a total feast for the senses, the water activities, tennis, gym and above all yoga classes with the best instructor ever, Elmer, made our stay perfect. The proximity to Male has also helped a lot, after a 10 hours flight, you step out of the airport, cross a road, jump in a boat and 20 mn later you are in swimming costume in some pristine water...paradise on earth. I left the service for last...what can I say, the hosts anticipate your thoughts, your every move, they will do anything they can to satisfy the most demanding and capricious guest !

. . . . I doubt that you could find anywhere better to stay than Gili Lankanfushi. All the 5 star comments from all the preceding guests will fill you in as well as I can. It is beautifully run, the staff are absolutely excellent and the attention to detail is exacting. My only caveat is that you should think very carefully whether this is the part of the world that you really wish to visit. For me it lacked any sense of reality - you may well find that a good thing - it felt like Disney's version of an idyllic Blue Lagoon. After a day or two, I longed for the raffishness of the West Indies, the landscape and life of Mauritius, a bit of buzz, some insects, a bird or two, some life. In the way that a perfect looking man or woman may seem to lack character and interest, you may react in the same way to these islands.

We have just returned from our Aniversary and I am delighted with our choice of island . Over the last 20 years we have returned to quite a few of the high end islands Reethi Rah , Kanahuru , Huvefen to name a few so I have a good idea of just how great accommodation etc can be in the Maldives . Gili may have changed name but this island is as great as you would expect from one of the top 5star islands . We stayed in a Residence suite and it was fantastic Robinson Crusoe chic we were amazed at the size and comfort of the villa the photos do not do them justice . I am not sure that I would have liked the villa suites which are most of the room category's for the island as the living room windows are pull down blinds and not full closing doors so am guessing the air con would not really work in these rooms but we did not hear anyone say this so that may not be the case.
The food was also very good and the fact that you can have your breakfast and dinner served in your villa at no extra charge is also another plus when you have such lovely accommodation . We ate at their sushi restaurant twice and I far preferred it to Reethi Rahs one also the chef was charming and promised to take our teenagers with him to buy his fish if we choose to return at Easter which is a consideration as we feel the size of the villas would accomadate us very comfortably( that is just how big they are ).
Spa was fab very good treatments in stunning surroundings .
Staff well this is what has stuck us both the most, everywhere we have been in the Maldives we have nearly always had very good service but without exception this island has the best staff we felt we have ever come across even the Gardener took nearly an hour showing us around the beautiful vegetable garden our Butler was superb and our room Boy went over and above looking after us .
Also as a last thought we felt the value of drinks at this island was very good A glass of champagne at 25 dollars and they do not do the naughty short measures ! And very nice cocktails at 17 dollars again in a decent size glass , little things like this can make a difference as we noticed last Easter at the Banyan Tree Samui short measure's all the way ...
We met the Manager of the island on arrival and on departure and I would say he is running a really great team as not once did we feel the need to speak to him other to thank him as we left.
So would I recommend this island a big yes so do not hesitate to book .
