We stayed here for a week in November 2007 and loved it! Everything about this place is stunning, the service is incredible and the rooms are fantastic.

We started off in the "basic" room - which was far from basic with its own plunge pool - and then moved into a beach pavilion room halfway through our stay. The beach pavilions were bigger and right on the beach - you could gaze out from bed and see the sea!

The pool was great and the hotel ran a whole host of activities so you wouldn't get bored if you wanted to be occupied. The food was brilliant in all the restaurants - make sure you try a mocktail at some point during your stay!

One tip - the sand is quite sharp so bring some shoes to swim in.

Overall an amazing experience!

We have just returned from our honeymoon at the Four Seasons Maldives at Kuda Huraa.
Despite being quite well-travelled, I can say that without a doubt it was the best holiday of our lives to date. It was an absolutely amazing experience and we could not have hoped or dreamed for more.
The location and resort are just stunningly beautiful, but as many have said before, it is the staff that make this place so unforgettable. We felt so special and thoroughly spoilt for the entire duration of our honeymoon. We have never experienced service of this quality before and were completely wowed by their attention to detail, personal service, friendliness and professionalism.
Our bungalow was very spacious and immaculately presented. The twice-daily housekeeping is done at very convenient times and they leave your room looking just wonderful. They even rake the sand by your outdoor shower twice daily to remove any footprints! The incense was also a very special touch.
I was so glad that we chose to stay in a beach bungalow rather than an over-water room as we actually had more privacy and were closer to all of the wonderful facilities that the resort has to offer. The plunge pool and outdoor bed are also pretty flash and very welcome additions to this class of room that you do not get in the water bungalows. We used our pool at least once every day - just gorgeous.
The gym is well equipped and the morning yoga with Justin was great. We could see baby sharks and baby sting rays from the sunrise deck before the yoga classes started.
Although we were told that the resort was full, we would never have guessed this as at times we felt as though we were the only ones on the island. We got to do many of the activities alone and the pool and beachside were often completely deserted. There is a lot to keep the guests entertained and so there is always plenty of opportunity for privacy and quiet. Obviously, considering that this was our honeymoon, this was great and added to the overall experience. Also, we could see at meal times that there were quite a few children on the island. The resort is clearly popular with families. While you might think that this is highly undesirable on a honeymoon, it actually worked out perfectly for us as the kids were hardly seen, very rarely heard and the relatively high population of families meant that the resort was not inundated with honeymooners. We felt special - not like 'just another couple'.
Despite what some other reviewers have written, we were very impressed with the food. Yes, it is expensive, but then again so is everything so why would the food be any different? We had excellent meals throughout our stay and were particularly taken with the Indian restaurant. We had a private dinner in the gazebo and the chef and waiting staff provided us with a night we will never forget. It was simply divine. And a wonderful bonus was waking up the morning after our special dinner to find that the staff had discretely placed a framed photo of the 2 of us at our dinner on our outside table - what a thoughtful momento! The breakfast at Cafe Huraa is also excellent - great variety and very tasty. We didn't eat or need lunch at all as the breakfast was so satisfying!
I could go on for paragraphs about how awesome the pool complex is, but suffice to say we LOVED IT.
We didn't use the spa as we had so many other things to do, but other guests reported that it was excellent. We did do the dolphin trip, Male transfer and snorkelling expeditions though, and all were superb. The snorkelling was really cool and the guides were all wonderful. Sunrise kayaking is also a must.
We loved that the service and resort were totally top class without being pretentious. Nobody was interested in 'putting on airs' meaning that you can really just completely relax into your holiday. Your holiday is about you and your needs / desires, and the Four Seasons takes care of these perfectly. The staff are genuine, exceptionally well trained and really seem to enjoy their positions. We were called by our names and always warmly and professionally greeted. We felt so welcome and truly like VIPs for our stay. All of this lead to a most relaxing, happy experience and we did not stop beaming with delight for the duration of our stay.
Honestly, we were thrilled with our holiday. I can only dream and hope that we get the opportunity to return to this wonderful, wonderful resort, but until then I would recommend it to anyone. You will not be disappointed and you will come away with spectacular memories to last a lifetime. We certainly have!

When we arrived at the Airport we were quickly met by wonderful staff of the Four Seasons who handled our luggage and whisked us off to the boat with no delay at all... The boat ride was great and it only took about 15-20 minutes...

When we arrived at the resort, we were again met by staff who took us to the lobby to register and gave us tea and cold cloths..

Check in was swift and we were off to our room immediately. We were in a Beach Bungalow 202 and it was perfect. We were on the Ocean side and that particular bungalow has a lot of trees around it so you are not seen by everyone who walks by on the beach... Our outside area was big with two loungers, table for 4, a big covered bed area and a warm pool…... Off the bathroom there is another outside area with a shower. I used the outdoor shower everyday and loved it... Our room was excellent and cleaned spotlessly everyday. They even dusted the rails of the bed (four poster) everyday.

The main pool was never busy though the resort was fully booked. I guess because the majority of people also had their own pool and or tons of beach area... At both the pool and the beach we were given ice filled water every 30 to 40 minutes, fresh fruit Popsicles and people coming around to clean sunglasses.. The cold towels also were a blessing with the heat.

We went with our 4 year old son and the Kids club was extraordinary. They all were so nice and really seemed to love children. The kids area was just next to the Dr. and it was a very central location. Our son loved to go everyday. Even though we wanted to do things with him, he was happy with the list of activities they had planned.

The food was great in every aspect... We did not have a bad meal or bad service though out our 8 days there.

As for activities we did lots, all at an extra cost, but worth it... I suggest everyone to do the Sand Bank trip... You hire a boat for a 25 minute ride out into the ocean to a sandbank were you have lunch.. The hotel puts up a tent for you and you eat under it… There is nothing there other than you and the sand surrounded by the Indian Ocean… It was a wonderful day...

The spa at Kuda Huraa is also very good. My husband was there at least once every day and sometimes twice… You take a dhoni over (about 2 minutes, if that) . Book in advance so you are not disappointed.

My husband and I have traveled all over and have stayed at some of the very best hotels and resorts in Europe, North America, and Caribbean. The Four Seasons Kuda Huraa was the best so far... It just goes to show that you get what you pay for....and the Four Seasons is worth every penny.

First visit to the Maldives but stayed in several Four Seasons resort hotels before. This one is good, not great but it has something about it thats very laid back and relaxing. Sea water is great - although a lot of broken coral on the beach and just as you go into the water which means wearing some footwear for protection is a good idea - and beach sand is very clean, white although not quite as powdery as say beach sand found on Bermuda. Water villas are a novelty but not practical (for a family) unless you are on honeymoon and want to be left alone. I suggest staying at one of the beach villas as its far more comfortable, more spacious and you walk straight out and onto the beach. The resort layout is flawed though. Reception, spa, bar and most restaurants are at the far end of the island (with the staff accomodation) while the water villas are the opposite end with the beach accomodation lying between them. This means that if you are in a water villa and want to go to the bar for a drink, you have a 10+ min walk (not far but with the sun blazing!) or you call for a buggy. Bar is very quite and I think its simply because people cant be bothered to go up there. Service is good and staff are friendly. Food (and especially breakfast) was good/average but not incredible. Beach food was really not up to Four Seasons 'go the extra mile' standards eg. the caesars salad with prawns at US$31 was 1 type of lettuce (massive pieces), a little dressing, 3 of the thinest slices of parmesan and 3 prawns. No anchovies, no hard bolied egg ...and 3 prawns?! You are in the middle of the ocean with fresh fish everywhere! Spa (on its own little island) treatments were very good. Another advantage is this resort is a 25 minute speed boat ride away from the airport. You are not dependant on the seaplanes and after getting off a long flight or indeed several long flights, the quicker you get the family to their rooms and the beach, the better. This resort is not over-manicured. Its more 'natural' with many people spending most the day barefoot and not in high heels which I understand you can find elsewhere in the Maldives.

“Great honeymoon destination...”

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa

We just got back from our Honeymoon at the Four Seasons in the Maldives and had a fantastic time. In particular:

1. The setting - the location is perfect - a very private small island surrounded by beautiful water.

2. Service - The service was amazing. Everyone knew us by name on our second day and all the staff were very accomodating. Also, as you'd expect from a Four Seasons, they anticipate all your needs before you think of them.

3. Food - I must say I disagree with the lost poster who said the food was only average. We had amazing food everyday of our stay - the breakfast buffet had a great selection and always kept us full til lunch. We had several amazing dinners, including a romantic dinner on a private spot of beach were we worked with the chef beforehand on personalizing our menu and the Asian restaurant was very good. We also loved the different curries from the indian restaurant. Definitely try the cooking school.

4. Spa - my wife went to the Spa everyday and thought it was amazing.

For those of you considering the four seasons in the maldives as a Honeymoon destination I would highly recommend it. However, if you're debating between the Maldives and Bora Bora, I would have to say that I prefered Bora Bora (attended for a week on a previous vacation). It has everything of the Maldives but a more beautiful backdrop and even nicer water (if that sounds possible).
