My wife and I stayed for 10 nights in August 2013, this was our eleventh trip to the Maldives.
The success of an island resort is in my opinion down to the staff, and the staff at Mirihi, are the best we have come across, some reviewers describe a feeling of being amongst friends, and that is certainly true, every member of staff appear happy in there work and pleased to meet you, so our first impressions of the island and its staff were excellent.
The rooms are comfortable, we were in room 30 which is in the middle of the semicircle of water villas, this afforded us the ability to snorkel at any level of tide.
They are not the largest water villas, but have everything you could want, with air conditioning , ceiling fan, mini bar, I pod dock and a very comfortable bed. The only limiting factor was a lack of drawer space for clothes.
The bathroom is large and airy with a rainfall shower, looking out over the ocean, quite private.
The island itself is quite small, something we like, the main restaurant called Dhonveli, was excellent, the food was amazing, the head chef Felix is proud of his food and takes great pride in showing you round and talking you through the dishes, and rightly so, we had some of the best food we have ever eaten, how they do it on such a small island is worthy of praise. They also have an al a carte restaurant called Muraka, we didn’t eat there but I can only assume the food is excellent.
During the day you can eat also at the bar called Anba, which is next to the restaurant, and again serves excellent food.
The reef surrounds the island, and looks healthy with a good selection of fish, also some larger sharks were seen including both large black tip and white tip sharks as well as several turtles. There was always some small squid or cuttlefish around the jetty when snorkelling, very cute. The reef is probably as good as I have seen, but we found that some areas visible from the walkways didn’t appear to have much fish life around them.
We had some really bad weather whilst we were there, about 5 days of high winds and driving rain, but were still able to chill out and relax. although the island was quite full, you could walk around and not see another person.
Were there any negatives..well just one and it may not be the islands fault, we found that the wi-fi in the water villa was very poor on our I pad, so poor that we could not skype our grandchildren on my wifes birthday, was it the poor wi-fi on the island or a problem with our I pad, I don’t know but that was the only let down, and to be fair to the island their It man came and tried to help
This island is exceptional, its staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, the food is to die for, its somewhere you must visit if choosing a Maldivian island.
We booked this holiday through Stylish Resorts, and found them to be exceptional on customer service, and very competitive on price
We had Water villa 30 and it was excellent but any high number between 30 and 36 and you can snorkel...
