“Only worth for good sleep.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

Location is good, as it's by the beautiful beach of Batu Burok and near the famous Pasar Payang. Best if f you get a room facing the ocean. This hotel used to be 'THE' hotel in Kuala Terengganu, but with the state of the facilities that it has now, it will be very difficult to compete with the new ones. It's more of a 3 star hotel.
We arrived too early to be checked in and were ushered to the 'lounge' for free refreshment while waiting. But the lounge was poorly furnished and decorated. Everything in there were old and tired looking. The bed was good but the rest of the furniture were also old. The pool was also not appealing to the kids. Landscape was poor. The breakfast spread was adequate but nothing fancy. We liked the Nasi Dagang.

Room Tip: Room on higher floor facing the sea.

This hotel is in need of serious refurbishment. it's sad to see the hotel with such great name has really turn old and aging throughout the years, with no serious effort from the management to upgrade it condition. the bed was not so comfortable, you can feel the spring while laying or sitting down. there is no standing shower stall, so you have to shower in the bath tub that has a funny squeaking sound, it felt old and brittle. the breakfast buffet was also a big letdown. apart from their delicious nasi dagang, everything else was just so so. there are not much variety, and it was plain boring. we would have to check in to other hotel next time we are in town. one good point is only a good view of the sea from the room.

Recently on 23rd October 2013, our community have been organised an annual hi tea banquet at Anjung Bistro cafe, Primula Beach Resort Hotel. Menu that we ordered is Tomato Rice with chicken gravy, Curry Mee, black glutinous rice porridge, cakes, watermelon, papaya, fried sausage, chicken puff, corn and orange drinks. All of that for MYR 50.00. The cafe management always top up the food to make sure you can eat untill full.

Room Tip: choose beach view room

This is an aging hotel that need refurbishment, but it is still an okay hotel and the maintenance is not that bad. The room and shower are clean. I like their breakfast spread, more varieties with local cuisines unlike with other city hotel which has more predictable boring menu.
The bell boy/customer service is quite helpful by recommending good eateries, where to shop including providing us the map.

Stayed at this hotel for one night while on a business trip.
To be honest i was expecting worse after reading through some of the reviews.
However i found the room to be relatively clean and was surprised that it had a LED tv too. Most hotels this 'old' will still probably still have the old box tvs.
Bed was also quite comfy.
The only issue i had was the bathroom which i thought was not clean enough as there was hair on the bathtub and also on the floor.
Breakfast was buffet and typical malaysian fare. Not fantastic but sufficient.

The hotel should do some upgrade as the property is really worn out. We found that the sliding door for the balcony was locked. We have reported the issue to the hotel front office However, until the last day of the stay, the staff doesnt appeared. The pool is nice and the view of the hotel is straight to South China Sea, it give you a nice sunrise view in the morning.

We loved the view over the South China Sea, though chairs on the balcony would be nice. Pleasant staff at reception desk, English limited in some cases. Room was big but carpets are threadbare & lobby furniture was old & needs repair. Pool was lovely, right beside the beach. We really appreciated the free shuttle into town, prompt & convenient. We visited during Ramadan - big mistake! We were unable to get dinner in the dining room the first night, but because of the fuss we made they served us an early dinner the second night. The breakfast was good with good omelets.
