“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

Stayed here for 3 days 2 nights for a business trip with my colleagues.

Book the Premier Room and was pleasantly surprised with the extra throw in, check in at the Premier Lounge was quick and fuss-free, best thing is there are food and drinks while we wait for the paper work to be done. The staff Zuraini is a friendly and professional wait staff, she attend to all our needs efficiently with a smile.

I got the 16th floor room facing the stunning Blue Mosque, it is comfortable and have all the necessary amenities, i like the Power Strip on the work desk, this is so much better than the usual power points one get at other hotel.

On a closer look, the room seem in need of refurbishment, the leather on my work chair is tearing, the wallpaper are not done properly, and the bath tub plug seem rusty. Oh, there is a Japanese style toilet with water spray for man/woman, quite cool. I really hope they do better for the Premier Room, it is supposed to be Premier after all.

Food wise, the main restaurant have plenty to eat for breakfast, though the egg stations seem a bit slow (perhaps too many orders, too rushing). Breakfast at the Premier Lounge is better but lesser variety, but still the food is good.

There's a big swimming pool on the 3rd floor, sadly we didnt have chance to use it as most of our days are away to work.

Overall, for the price one pay for the Premier Room, the service and freebies more than justified it, its a case of managing one expectation. IF I'm back to Shah Alam, it would be my choice of hotel to stay.

The only quaint is the morning 5am prayers from the mosque, but this is Shah Alam and it is religious, so its ok for me.

Room Tip: get a room that face the Blue Mosque.

So I decided to stay at this hotel again last weekend. I stayed for a night in one of their premier rooms. It was an OK experience. I got to the hotel around 8PM on a Saturday. The check-in was quick and simple, although I would have liked it a lot better had they checked me in at the premier lounge. There was nobody at the lounge reception. Same thing happened during check out (10AM Sunday).

Breakfast was good. They have a lot of food to choose from, but it looks like the menu hasn't changed in a while. It was more or less the same menu as my previous 4-5 stays.

Stayed 5 nights. Chose this hotel because of its proximity to MIL. Took a Deluxe room which was a good size and clean. Strangely there is no cover sheet between you and the duvet which incidentally was laid out incorrectly. Towels & water bottles changed/replaced every day. Wifi was free. Buffet breakfast included - a good spread - however what was offered did not vary much during our stay and this was a little disappointing. Staff were more matter-of-fact than friendly but it was not a problem. Our room faced the 'Blue' mosque which was at times spectacularly lit in the evening light. Next time I'll take one of their newly renovated rooms. There is a shopping mall next door. Generally the area is quiet and peaceful. Room well shielded from external sounds.

Room Tip: Take a room that faces the Blue Mosque.

Day 2 - morning breakfast , food too salty and informed the waitress and being answer "is it"... Evening- to have dinner at the restaurant at smoking area. A table is not cleared and a cat sit on the table having the food > I took photo of it.

We stayed for a short weekend recently with our 2 kids. The rooms were clean and breakfast buffet had a wide range of selection. Our kids enjoyed the swimming pool but I was a bit bothered when people started jumping in with their clothes. Next to the hotel is a mall where you can get cheaper food and is just a walking distance away.

Room Tip: Try getting a room facing the mosque

Dear jomjalan,

Thank you very much for choosing Concorde Hotel Shah Alam as your weekend getaway destination with your kids recently.

We are happy to learn that you and your 2 kids enjoyed your stay here. We also glad to know that you were satisfied with the room’s cleanliness and found the buffet breakfast spread mouth-watering.

The swimming pool located at level 3 is very popular amongst the hotel guests, we are happy that your kids had good time there. As a parent, we understand your concern, we have scheduled more frequent patrols to the swimming pool to prevent the same situation from happening again in the future.

Meanwhile, we thank you for sharing your staying experience on Tripadvisor and we look forward to welcoming you back to Concorde Hotel Shah Alam.

Best regards,
Karl Muir
