The Royal Comfort Hotel in Sri Muda is definitly for the more budget conscios traveller who doesn't mind a few holes in the blankets and rather grubby carpets. The hotel is located in a good area for eating local food. The BEST char siew in KL can be found just accross the road at teh Spring Blossom resteraunt. There are a number of other good food outlets nearby where you can get a number of good cheap local dishes including econnomy rice.
The hotel has fairly basic facilities and room rates were RM 75-110 while we were staying there. All rooms are air-conditioned and bathromms have hot water. Drinking water is only available from a dispenser in the hall way on each floor.
Tea and coffe making facilities are provided but that is about it as far as freebies are concerned. The beds were comfortable but the bedding was less than clean.
The Royal Comfort isn't quite what is locally known as a 'chicken house' like the nearby Mutiara (note: There is a 4 star hotal in Penang by the same name so don't confuse it with the one in Sri Muda.)
If you are on a budget and don't mind a slightly seedy hotel that is in an interesting area then teh Royal Comfort wouldn't be too bad a choice. If you are used to 4 star travelling then don't even think about going there.
Parking outside the hotel is pay by the hour during the day (except Sunday) so keep an eye out for parking inspectors if you don't buy a ticket from the machine.
