“Not a Grand Hotel, very disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

We booked a package with the local airlines and selected this hotel. it didnt live up to my expectation as a Grand Hotel. Room is old and shabby. But it is big & comfortable. Room has wifi facility but internet is slow & cuts off intermittenly, it was lucky we brought along our Broadband connection. The Hotel lobby smells musty .Hotel was very busy and the Receptionists seemed too busy to acknowledge any of hotel guests !!!!

Overally, the Hotel facilities are old and the Buffet Breakfast and Lunch are not up to my expectation compare the price that they are charging for the room. The function room as well, one word, old! Luckily the service provided are good and friendly, i am very impressed by the banquets and the room service lady who sent me the iron and iron board. I think that is the only thing that can attract me to go back.......

I stayed there during a conference and it was really pleasant. The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean and well maintained. There were a lot of small eating houses around that provide cheap tasty food round the clock.
There are a few shopping malls at walking distance and the cab service was also fair.
The food was good at the hotel and the breakfast menu was complete.

I was staying at this hotel for a 2-days event. It's reasonably priced, room is spacious but old furnishings and may have moldy smell likely from the carpet. Cleanliness is acceptable and able to block out some noise and get comfortable sleep since I was staying on 11th floor. Free WiFi is a plus. The front desk service is polite and efficient. However, it is disturbing to receive a wake up call from housekeeping to ask me to return the iron and board which I borrowed the night before.

Stayed 3 nights. Clean and tidy. Not far from Sarawak river. Take your life in your hands crossing the road outside. Value for money

We stayed here two nights on arrival in Kuching and then an additional two nights before leaving Kuching. We had stayed in this hotel before in 2004 and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. On this occasion, I was unlucky enough to have my bag stolen (motor cyclist who rode up the pavement towards us and grabbed my bag). We returned to the hotel to phone and cancel our credit card. The hotel manager arranged for us to go to the local police station in the hotel's car with a driver who waited for us, and then the same driver and car took us to another police station to speak to the investigativ staff. We cannot praise the hotel staff too highly.

Rooms are now looking well used but are comfortable enough and we like being slightly away from the action. My bag was stolen in the vicinity of the Hilton Hotel, apparently a hot spot for that sort of happening. Very nice swimming pool with few users.

This hotel was okay nothing special but good value for money.

The rooms were big with a comfy large double bed if a little dated.

The bathroom was a bit old. I satyed here twice with a stay at Bako in the middle so I had two differnt rooms. However in both of them the shower holder mechansim was broke meaning you have to hold the shower head both times or the water sprays out horizontally !

The location is okay and only ten mis from the wtarerfront and I like the breakfast two where I really stocked up before Bako.

The pool was also nice, some people said it was too samll on other reviews but I was always the only person there so it was fine with me !

All in all not too bad but nothing special and you get what you paid for but aftr a night in Bako getting back there felt like heaven with AC, hot water & a TV !!!
