“Decent pies, friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Chanced upon John's Pie - while accompanying my sister to make her glasses.

The pies are priced between RM 4.80 (most of the pies) - RM 9.50 (giant lamb pie). We tried the Steak pie and the Chicken Mushroom Quiche.

The steak pie filling was very good - quality chunks of steak, not too gooey, just the right amount of potatoes and gravy in it. The chicken mushroom quiche needed more mushroom - it could have been better. The pie crusts are average - the normal kind of pie crust you would find in Kuching. If they improve on the crusts... the pies would be much better.

it's a small cosy place, which can probably only seat about 10 people, maximum - most people take away their pies. They have savoury and sweet pies.

For a small city like Kuching, John's Pie is a good place for pies - better than most of the places I've tried, but probably still not as good as authentic NZ or UK pies. It's a good start though! With their friendly service and freshly baked pies, they'll definitely continue to bring in customers.

“Great pies..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Why bother making pies when you can save your time and cleaning up.. John's pie has good choices of palate tingling pies to fulfill your cravings.. The place maybe small, but it offers a good comfy environment for you to enjoy your pie.. and the pies is inexpensive and value for money.

“Pies but made for the local market”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012 via mobile

If you like pies, and are looking for a taste of home, then don't bother coming here. Awful gristly pies, made for a local market. Cheap but that's because the ingredients are too.
