“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

I stayed in a Club Room an found it was worth the extra. Nice t have somewhere to sit in te evenings having a snack before dinner. The rooms were very quiet and clean but need a refurb-they are looking a bit dated. Staff very friendly-especially in the Club lounge. Nice pool. Good choice of restaurants.

Actually this is the first time i choose to review anything in TripAdvisor, its been a while i joined and i'm basically a reader. But this hotel, worth a review seriously.

Actually i randomly choose Kuching for our family trip this time. I choose Riverside Majestic because of the affordability and location so i don't expect much from them. From the moment i step out from the taxi i already fell in love with their service. I arrived early, around 11am, with a 6month old baby with us, i really hope that they let me check in early.

Went to the reception, greet by Ms Nursyifa Hashim, and first question i ask her is whether we can check in early or not, looking at my baby's eyes she without hesitation let us check in immediately, some more let us to get the corner room at the 14th floor and order the baby cot for us. She mention there's Regatta happening so she let us get the River view so we can enjoy the race without the hustle of bringing our baby to the Waterfront.

Breakfast was ok, nothing impressive, and yes i agreed with other comment about their rooms a bit old but i really don't expect much as they not asking for a 5star rate. There are a lot of 4star hotels with similar rate.

And whenever i check in to any hotel, we will order room service their Club Sandwich so we can compare the food between hotels and for Riverside ill give them 8/10.

Room Tip: Corner Room with one facing the city and one facing the River.

I stayed here with family for an international church forum and it was lovely. The rooms were nice and the hotel had an overall good feel to it. There's a mall right beside it and good places to eat surrounding the area. It's right across the river too so it's nice to take a walk around.

They were extremely nice to accommodate our request to change rooms despite the fact that they were extremely busy as our entire delegation came in that afternoon. Unfortunately we had to do it twice since the rooms we got were quite musty and the a/c units didn't work. But all worked out well in the end so I'm satisfied with the stay.

It is the stuff of fables - a miniature Asian version of Sydney. Water views are the must and the sunset shots from the 17th floor are to dream about. It also gets you into the executive lounge for a fraction of what Australian hotels costs in its class. The executive lounge has free drinks and the best potato wedges and curry puffs this side of the green stump. The hotel was fully booked with multiple conferences - obviously Kuching is the flavour of the year for conference venues. We arrived late and got the run about of marvellous rooms/suites but all with dreaded noise - one had the airconditioning plant overhead and the other was adjacent to the lift well. As wonderful as hotel managers can be, they moved us to the best available room the next day and it was a suite with the most amazing views. I only booked a superior room with breakfast advanced purchase and I got the best!! Not only does the lounge offer a food smorgasbord but the room was a kaleidoscope of views that my snap-shot hungry fingers could not get enough of. I was amazed to see rowers fighting it out against a brilliant sunset you only see in those tour brochures but are really real. Kuching is really a lovely little city and does offer a direct flight to Mulu National park about which I cannot stop raving.

Room Tip: Go for the high corner rooms - they have the views you would expect to pay the earth but not so.

The hotel is just next to the river and the view is quite amazing during sun rise and sun set. Also it is just next to the best seafood restaurant in town -- Topspot. As for the room is quite so so: the decoration and the clean condition just dont live up the price they are asking for.

Also the swimming pool opens 7:00 AM ~ 7:00 PM. If you came back after dinner, you wont be able to enjoy the pool.

We spent 3 nights in Aug 2012.
The hotel has of course a good price but i do not suggest it to europeans.
The facility is very very old, the service is not at the level of the stars declared. Wifi is not reaching the rooms and the people at the desk are not very confortable with english in order to help you on the problems you're facing.
Pool and spa were under manteinance during our staying and we were not informed about it.
Air condition was always freezing in the hall and in the room without possibility to regulate it.
Not suggested by my.

Stayed there 11-14 Aug. Overall a very pleasant experience. The staff are very friendly and smiley which made me feel so welcome. I got a corner room on a high floor which was great since I got both the city and river views. Bed was very comfortable and I like that they provide a choice of pillows. I got a glitch when making the booking - somehow my first booking online did not go through so I had to do a second booking and called a few times just to make sure there is no duplication. Also when I called to make enquiries if the hotel provides transportation to Sarawak Cultural Village, was told they do not and advised to go to their sister hotel Margherita to make bookings, but when I arrived at the hotel the concierge said they do provide this service. Though on a high floor, I got disturbed on a few occasions by very very noisy bikers deep in the night so cannot imagine the annoyance of those on the lower floors. The bathtub is a little run down and does not drain very well but I like the toilet with the built-in bidet. Had lunch at their cafe during off peak hour so got all the staff's attention. Cafe has river view so it was nice having a quiet meal there. Great location too. No time to use their pool but took a peek and thought it looks nice and has good views.
Overall, a very good hotel for the price I paid. Definitely will stay there again if in Kuching.
