“A Little Gem”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012

At the Government administrative area known as Petrajaya, which is a little boat ride away from across Kuching River, there's this Orchid Garden. It's not commonly visited by the locals but for overseas visitors like myself, I'm enthralled by the cornucopia of orchids that are available for display. One of the orchids is named after the Chief Minister of Sarawak as well. The entrance fee is naught. It would be awesome to learn about what orchids's likes and dislikes, and to see how those orchids are being looked after but all we are exposed to is simply the final product. Staff there are courteous. The garden is truly a little gem to visit. You shall be able to cover the whole place in less than an hour.

“A beautiful well-arranged garden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

This garden was much more beautiful than I had expected and I was impressed at the number of different orchids it contained. The colors were fabulous. We only spent about 30 minutes here but I would have love to spend the entire afternoon!

“Such a pretty place with no entry charge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2012

Such a huge display of immaculate orchids. Well worth the short walk and 30c boat ride. Free entry but take your own water bottle. It's such a large area!

“great and it is free”

visited after recommendation, crossed the water taxi for 1 rm for 2 people, and is located behind the gold roofed government building. Beautiful well kept gardens with a massive collection of beautiful orchids. Well worth a visit.

“Delightful, tranquil, garden in lovely setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

Inspired by the review on TripAdvisor, I took a water taxi to go and see this gem - and was pleasantly surprised. It really is a gem. Not as big as it sounds elsewhere, only half the area is open to the public, so one can see it all in an hour to an hour and a half. Well laid out with concrete paths meandering all over the site which is on the side of a gentle hill so that one easily wanders around, being rewarded with different spectacular views of the orchids with the Astana and State Assembly (DUN) as the backdrop. There is a small cafe as well so you can recuperate with a cold drink or ice cream. And entry is free!
