I would like to suggest that why dont you extend your operation time because some of my friends who work very late would like to try here but due to the operation time, they just give up. Let say till 11 will do. Its just my point of view.

“Best Thai Cuisine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

You wont really notice there is a restaurant here if you dont look carefully. Been in Kuching for the past 1 and half years...i pass this place (Sarakraf handikraf ctr) every day at least 2x a day, not knowing there is an awesome eatery in there! I first saw it mentioned here in Trip Adsvisor and was curious.
Now i am so glad i found this Thai food haven. The Tom Yam soup here is 1st class... superb. The cook is from Thailand. The pandan chicken, sambal belacan and their sago dessert.....is mouth watering. They have a combination of Chinese cuisine too. Deer meat, midin......mmm. A must go restaurant!

“Good Food, Good Atmosphere, Good Service, Good Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

It was pouring rain when me and my friend arrived at the restaurant. My friend's bottom half was wet and soggy. So we asked the waitress for some tissue to dry off. The waitress went further and gave us towel. We are pleased.
We were seated in a closed off room, but with a big window so we can also have a full view of the main dining area. The closed off room is good for a group of six rowdy girls (or any noisy party).
All the dishes we ordered were really good. I highly recommend the Dabai (local preserved black olive) fried rice, and their Midin Kerabu. We ordered their prawn umai too. They have a lot of traditional dayak food and local cuisine.
I will definitely go back and try their other dishes.
Overall we pay less than RM 200 for 9 dishes altogether.

Good Food, Good Atmosphere, Good Service and Good Price, Dear Laura, you are a Good Customer !!

Thank you for dangling us on air with your good review. My crew will be happy to read that a simple towel makes the difference in customer service. Thank you for your recognition.

The room that you girls were dining in is a longhouse-themed VIP room, which is only opened for special booking. However, our crew had decided to put you in that room because you are soaking wet and would not be feeling comfortable to be seated in the main dining hall with the others. :)

We are pleased to know that your guests like our food too, we hope to see you more often in the near future, and will remember to keep more towels on stand by......during rainy days...:)

Warm regards,

Gerald

“What a deception !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013 via mobile

We came to absolut tribal because it was highly recommanded on TripAdvisor (we had lunch there).
Briefly, the food was Ok, but that's all. Service was totally cold, with a waitress totally unfriendly, not smiling at all.
We asked for fresh sliced pinneaple for desert. First it was not cut properly and had a lot of peel. In addition they didnot even clean our table before they bring the desert and gave us tooth picks to eat it.
At the end of the lunch we ask the waitress if the shop next door belonging to the restaurant is open and she reply no. But 5 minutes later, while waiting for our taxi outside, what was our surprise to see her opening the shop for another customer !?!?! (Even if after she nicely propose us to come in that was awkward and rude).

Maybe it was a bad day ( maybe not) but we think it doesn't worth the 15rm taxi to come from the city centre.

Dear Constance B,

First, my sincere apology for the type of service that you had received. I hope it did not spoil your Sunday mood. I am sharing this review with all our crew and I sincerely hope that we could take this as a learning process for improvement.

one of the biggest setback of operating a restaurant in Malaysia is that we have too many festivity holidays in a year......and now, as Gawai festival approaching nearer, the permanent staffs are taking their turn to be on leave so they can celebrate their Gawai in their longhouses in the interior of Sarawak..... so WE, basically ended up with part time waiters and waitresses who are pretty untrained and didnt know much about the power of smiles on the mood of the guests. In fact, they are more nervous than being unfriendly ...... this is the truth....

I had investigated and found out that you had asked our part-timer Ms. Jila about the outlet .....and the lady that nicely invited you into the handicraft outlet was our supervisor Ms. Jonifer. Ms. Jila speaks very little English and she probably didn't understand your questions about the handicraft outlet which opens from Monday to Saturday and not on Sunday when you dropped by. My apology again.

I am pleased to hear that the food was ok. We are indeed sorry that you didn't find our tribal presentation with toothpick on the pineapple presentable, although this is how fruits are being served in the authentic longhouse setting.....

All in all, We hope we could see you again on your next trip here in Kuching, if you call for booking in the future, I will make sure that I personally would stay around to serve you to make it up for the shortfall.

Thank you very much for your review.

Warm regards,

Gerald Goh

“Excellent Thai Food in Kuching.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Delighted to experience dinner last month at this quaint restaurant in Kuching. The owner was present to take our order and was helpful with explaining his menu to us. We indulged ourselves with a variety of authentically tasting thai food, which i can say, is the closest Kuching has to offer of the real deal. The portions were good and price reasonable.
Will surely be back back to experience the rest of the menu.
Good Job Gerald !

Dear Iceman,

Actually, I had forgotten which day you dropped by.....your profile photo is way too small for my aging memory to recall....:) Anyway, Thank you for the encouraging review.

The Challenge of Running a foreign cuisine restaurant lies very much in achieving authenticity on a different land and culture....... It takes a lot to ensure that authenticity is a selling point and sometimes we really had to go all out to dig originality from what we have locally .... but we are happy to do that because that is the least we could do.

Your review on our authenticity really gave us a real pat on our shoulders which I feel all we had done is all worth it. Our chef will be brilliantly happy to hear and thank you very very much.

We sure hope to see you again and thank you very much for dining with us.

Thanks

Warm regards,

Gerald
