“not a family restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

this is more of a cosy hangout for drinkers. i went there with my family (5 young kids, 13, 7, 5, 3 and 1.5 yrs) last night because this restaurant was rated no. 3 out of 120 restaurants or eating outlets in kuching on tripadvisor. the servers were all very friendly and helpful but that was the only positive element from our perspective. the food menu is tailored more for drinkers and there was limited choice for kids. the servers (not guests) did not have the foresight to realize that they should not smoke in the presence of our children. the fish fingers, french fries and other dishes meant for the children were all served with chili sauce. it does not take a harvard graduate to realise that children do not generally relish chili sauce. food servings were relatively small compared to their prices and were generally too salty. like i said earlier, it would be perfect if all of us were guzzling pints of beer, then the salty food would have been ideal. the air-conditioner was not cold enough.

“Unique”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Well,I've only been there once when I was doing a pre-RWMF performance. The place seems cool & unique. Just that it could use more space or smaller/slimmer tables & chairs so that it could make more room/space for more people. The cool thing is that, since it's at the heart of the town area, it could easily attract more tourist, more if there's a live-band playing. What it could also really use is more staff as the service seems a bit slow at the time. But I can't really tell cause it was my first time there.

“Great food, relaxing atmosphere, awesome people.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Owned by Ernesto Kalum of Borneo Headhunters and managed by Sullivan Cotter, this restaurant is a very relaxing place to chill and have a drink and a feed while studying the walls! Right in downtown Kuching, the food is excellent at a reasonable price. Try the aussie steak, delicious!

“Good food, but very slow service when busy.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012 via mobile

The food was very tasty once it arrived but due to someone else ordering a five course meal we had to wait almost an hour for our food, as did three other couples. They compensated for this by giving us some rice crackers to eat whilst we waited, but we were still left hungry for a while.

Drinks-wise, having read reviews on here we were looking forward to trying the cocktails but unfortunately they didn't have the main ingredient. Instead I ordered a rice wine and my girlfriend ordered orange juice. She was told it was fresh but actually it wasn't.

Overall, a nice place to visit with tasty food but be prepared to wait. Also, whilst I did enjoy my meal, I don't think it's worth the high rating it has on here.
