“Ideal location”

This is one of the older hotels, located just besides the water front. Clean(but a bit seasoned) amenities, with a safe, iron and ironing board provided for in the room. However, I feel the overall carpets along corridors and especially in the guest room ought to be refurbished- looks kind of dirty with lots of dirt stains. Fast food restaurants are within walking distances, and for local foods, just cross the road and head left, along the main street, there's quite a few Chinese coffeeshops, but only a few shops will be opened in the evenings.
There are not much activities along the waterfront, which is ideal if you want a quiet stroll.

Great location, good breakfast, OK rooms and helpful staff. We booked 2 rooms for 4 nights, asked for adjoining rooms and actually got them. Sure, the carpet is a bit old, and the rooms could do with a bit of reno, but for what you pay, you get value. Good views across the waterfront, good pool. The desk staff went out of their way to help us when we needed quick access to the internet, and the door staff were always concerned that we were OK for taxis, and looked out for our safety.
We'd stay again.

Good locate on the water front and next to shoping center ,we got the executive rooms thinking it would be nice in the afternoon to have a cocktail and some nibbles went two nights in a row at 5.30 no cocktails only wine and coffee one bottle of white and 1 red for all and food all gone and it was on 5 to 7 when ask if we could get something else to drink as my sister dose not drink wine they said you can get drinks that are there but on they web site were we booked it said cocktails and nibbles 5 to 7 the room need up grade I would stay at the hilton I think.

My family stayed 1 night at this hotel before flying home. This hotel situated quite in the center of city. The room was clean and comfortable. The room rate was value for money which include breakfast. The breakfast spread was very generous with many choices and taste great too. This hotel buffet breakfast was one of most elaborate that I had come across.
We came during December moonsoon season so it was raining and certain part of Kuching was flooded.

We had a good deal from the hotel website. Only RM 200 per nite for a superior twin room + breakfast for two adults and two kids. The room is spacious with two super single bed - just nice for my family. However a bit of hiccup from the very beginning. I booked a non smoking room but was given a smoking room. I was not informed of the shortage of non smoking rooms until I called the front desk and was told they could only change us to a non smoking room the next day. Each request made to the housekeeper must be done twice before it is done eg requesting for towels n floor mats. The pool is open from 8am but no one is at the towel station. Even when my hubby went to the reception to ask for towels and the request was taken lightly. He was told the towels will be brought to him but after 1.5h they were still not delivered to us at the pool. We gave up! The view from our room was great though.

Rather than give a full review of this hotel I've decided to just list the things that were wrong - in no specific order. So here goes:

Grand Margerhita not so grand. Could rate as a 2 or 3 star certainly not 5 star. Our room was booked and paid for weeks prior to checking in. However on checking in were told that we had to pay again. Still unsure if this has been refunded. Our room was booked on the executive club floor however the room was nowhere near Executive room size - went to Executive Club lounge for drinks and canapés - only one white wine to share amongst guests. I asked for a red wine but was told that only white wine was available. Asked for a beer. None available. No bin Liners and the bins were dirty. Empty mini bar? Whole floor smelt of smoking but was told it was a non smoking floor - strange that there was an ashtray in the room. There were bare electrical wires hanging out of ceiling. The hotel is firmly stuck in the 1970s and requires refurbishing.Although the executive rooms were advertised as having internet access ther was no WiFi. Only adsl through a cable. Nowadays I no longer carry a laptop when traveling- i use an iPad so had no Internet access. Dirty 19800's styly bath. Toilet seat nearly fell off. Master light switch did not work so each light had to be switched off individually, Room smelt of dried anchovies and was very damp. Carpet had definitely not been vacuumed.

been to Kuching several times but never think of this hotel as my 1st choice.
But this time around, decided to try it and i truly think this hotel a great customer service.

A bit pricey. Location wise : strategic..veryy strategic !
Easy to get cab, next to the hotel is the waterfront (river), and circling this hotel is few shopping centres..
