“Great budget option for families”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2009

We stayed at the 360 hotel in Kuching for a week in December 2009 and found it to be an ideal base from which to explore the national parks and attractions of Sarawak. Here are some things to note:

* A one room apartment is L shaped and has enough room for 2 extra beds if travelling with children. You don't need to upgrade to a 2 bed apartment if you are on a budget.
* There are free laundry facilities which are very welcome in the Monsoon season but you need to take your own detergent
* There is a shopping center with resturants attached to the hotel which is useful for buying provisions.
* A taxi ride into town/waterfront cost us 10 ringets each way
* There is a great vegetarian buffet resturant directly opposite the hotel
* The Crown Shopping center, a 5 minute walk from the hotel has several great resturants including a very cheap chinese and a more expensive western style resturant. as well a sushi bar and traditional Malay resturant.
* The breakfast is very disappointing with soggy toast, plastic sausages and overdone eggs. Avoid it and make your own or go to the shopping centre.
* The staff were very helpful if a little overworked.

All in all, although not the Hilton or the Shearaton, and not in the center of the city, we found this a good 3-4* hotel with the essentials for keeping our 4year old and 9 year old happy - Disney channel, free internet and a swimming pool.

Stayed in the apartment unit equipped with kitchen, dining area and the room was spacious. Agreed with most reviewers; facilites, service, rooms are tops. Breakfast varieties were ok though can be improved. Table clearings were slow. Likewise when it comes to replenish food and cutleries. We had to wait for a while for breakfast on our second day. The irony was, the staff were just busy chatting with each other and having their breakfast at the same time in the kitchen. We were given an access card for lift and room access. You need the card to activate thepower in your room. This was indeed a hassle and my husband had to insist to have an additional access card or else everyone had to stick together with no choice of staying behind. Journey to city centre is RM 10per way and the hotel can call a cab for you. The adjoining shopping centre is small and of not much attraction. The hotel is definitely worth staying in and shuttle to Damai can be arranged through the front desk. It cost RM 10 per adult and RM 5 per child.

I went to stay there for 2 nights. The room is spacious, comfortable and clean. worth for its price. The staffs are friendly and provide good services. They tried their best to allow me to check in earlier. However, this hotel only provide 1 access card for 1 room which caused us very inconvenience. You need the card for lift services and access to the shopping mall. This hotel is located near to Kuching town. Overall, this hotel is valuable to stay...

Large, light, clean room. Nice feel to it. Great views from 6th floor (has 18 floors) Plasma TV, comfy bed. Book direct to hotel. Ask for courtesy bus to take you to airport - only 6 ringgit. the Crowne centre across the road has some nicer looking restaurants. Breakfast pretty basic - great if you like curry and dried anchioves. Not much fruit, but great coffee. Location is 15 min walk to centre. But there's a bar on the way which does a good guiness. So, in summary, good value, and no fag stink despite not being given a n/s room. Enjoy.

I stayed in this hotel during the Rainforest World Music fes. It was kinda last minute booking and most of the hotels in the city were fully booked.
I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel has nice clean rooms with comfortable beds and a friendly concierge to greet you. The room has internet access and a flat screen tv. Although located slightly further away from the city, the hotel provides coaches to tourist attractions if there is a group. If you rent a car, there is a basement carpark which is quite deserted and I'd encourage you to park at the public carpark in front of the hotel.
It also has a small shopping mall next to it but not much shopping can be done there. Opposite it, there is a famous Chicken-rice shop which is usually pack during lunch hours.

Truly excellent, comfortable 2-bedroom apartments. Well-furnished, modern rooms with city views. Big enough to swing a crocodile in. We loved this place!

The first reviewer failed to look around and therefore missed the best point of this place. Sure, there is no room service or flashy restaurant. But the hotel is attached to an entire shopping centre. You don't even need to leave the hotel building to eat. There is a walkway across to the main shopping area in Hock Lee Centre. Firstly, there is a Chinese Malay restaurant called "The Jolly Kitchen". It has tasty, cheap food in a relaxed atmosphere. Or walk a few more steps to a swanky Chinese restaurant. Then head downstairs to a supermarket and load up on beer and soft drink. Great convenience! Just not promoted by the hotel itself. There are also other restaurants nearby.

Horizon Restaurant is on the tenth floor of the 360 Hotel. It serves a buffet breakfast. This includes cereals, juices, toast, and noodles. Plus a few cooked items (changed daily) like sausages or rice. All filling and included in the tariff. Admiring the riverside views are a great way to start the day. Grab a newspaper and relax. You can see all the way to Mount Santubong!

Back to the rooms... Cable internet points in two rooms (free). Free satellite TV channels on a new set. And a properly equipped kitchen that would be handy if you stayed for a few days. Everyday needs like tea and coffee are well met. There is plenty of fridge space for ice, beer, cold drinks and Sarawak layer cakes. Everything works.

Washing machines and dryer are provided free in a laundry room. They even supply washing powder free. Yes! No need to pay for an expensive laundry service.

All these little extras are nice to find. And the room prices are great, anyway.

The hotel is located away from the hustle-and-bustle of the city centre. You can hop in a cab for 10-12 RM and head for the waterfront. Front desk staff were always helpful arranging transport (including shuttle buses). Hard to fault. They were also patient and understanding with our children.

This place is a winner for anyone who likes a bit of living space. Definitely best to book directly via the hotel's website.

The hotel has been open about one year and I'm surprised nobody has reviewed it yet. I stayed two nights (3-4 Aug) and paid only RM 155 (USD 45) per night, including tax, service and breakfast, through the hotel's own website. I was upgraded to one of the apartment units (see photos) which makes me think that some floors were originally built for residential accommodation (it looks like my suite had a maid's room and small yard area included). It is hard to fault the hotel at this price, indeed everything was clean, working and the staff were helpful enough (but, it has to be said, not overly friendly). I do think, however, that the hotel over-sells itself, advertising that it is "5-star at budget prices" (or something like that). No way is it 5-star, but it does offer facilities of a good 3-star hotel in many parts of the world - including a good-size pool and gym. What was disappointing was the lack of any bar or dining outlets. There is a room on the 18th floor where a buffet breakfast is served, and it has free wifi access (also in ground floor lobby), and the room is open until 8pm for guests' use. But there is no meal or drinks service at all - just a water cooler, and some tea and coffee sachets if you want a hot drink (these are not provided in the rooms). As far as I could see there was no way to get any form of drink (soft or alcoholic) and no food/room service at all. This is important because unlike many of the big hotels in Kuching, the 360 is NOT in the waterfront centre where most of the action - and shops/restaurants - are. Sure, it's only a flat-rate RM 10 taxi to get to the waterfront, but if you're looking for a meal or a drink in or within walking distance of the hotel, you may be disappointed. That said, one reason I chose the hotel was because the reviews here for the other major Kuching hotels are generally pretty grim reading - tired old rooms and bad food - and 360 Hotel certainly scores highly in terms of the rooms being modern and quite clean. It's a RM22 taxi ride to the airport. I recommend taking the Damai Beach Resort's shuttle bus (RM 10 each way) on the 45 minute drive to Damai Beach - can rent a towel there for just RM 10 and use the resort's pool and beach, grab a meal (yes, they do serve food and drink!) and then be dropped off back at 360 by the same shuttle bus.
