We stayed at the LimeTree Hotel for 4 nights in August, following good overall reviews of the hotel. Our stay included return transfer from/to airport, and the driver was nice and polite. We stayed in the deluxe room, which is sizable. The check-in process was pretty swift. The hotel is located at one end of Chinatown - so there are numerous eateries nearby. In addition, most attractions in the city are within 20 minutes walk from the hotel. We recommend trying Topspot seafood, which is a collection of seafood stalls located on top of a multi-storey carpark, within 5 mins walk from the hotel.
Most of the hotel staff were very friendly - we only had a small issue with one female staff. When we checked in, we were given only one key, but was told that we could get another one if we needed. We requested for it the next day, but the female staff on duty told us it was not their policy to provide 2 keys for double rooms - this doesn't make sense to us at all. It was only when we requested to see the duty manager that she 'grudgingly' gave us the second key.
Although the hotel is non smoking except at the rooftop lounge, we could smell the remnants of smoking along the corridor. We hope that the hotel staff would check regularly to ensure that no one is flouting the non-smoking policy.
It is nice and relaxing to sit at the rooftop lounge - except for the occasional smoker (since we are both non-smokers). There is also a karaoke room where you can rent for about 25 RM per hour. Although we used the room for more than an hour one evening, we were only charged for one hour.
Breakfast selection is pretty good - I especially enjoyed the local delights, such as Kuching laksa.
Overall, a very pleasant stay, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kuching.
