“Nice Accommodation….I love to stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2011

Mr. D’s bread and breakfast ….it’s a wonderful experience. “Mr.D “ he is very friendly & very much informative about Kuching and entire Borneo. I like this accommodation because of its location, located heart portion of Carpenter street , near to Kuching water front, textile museum, Chinese temple ect…

Wooden floored Rooms are neat and clean, unlimited morning self made breakfast, washing machine & iron box, desk top pc… this all are added advantages.

Room Tip: wooden floored Ac double room in first floor

The main bonus about this palce is defenative the stuff, they make pankace, they play the guitar and sing and they invite every one who likes to hang out with locals. Very chilled place!!

Me and my friend arrived in Kuching, with the plan to explore Sarawak. This plan quickly changed when we met the cool guys from the reception... We stayed in the guest house for almost 2 weeks, just relaxing and drinking and going out with Cash & Ezra. Best times in Malaysia! I can understand that this is not a good place to stay if you're into super clean or if you don't like free pancakes and bread with peanut butter of jam for breakfast, but me and my friend loved it! We really liked our bed, with the perfect pillows and a real blanket and good mattress. We really felt at home, just sleeping the day away and watching movies. Recommended if you're a fun person who has been travelling for a long time. You'll make friends here for sure!

Arrived after a long day traveling from Sandekan. Went by the recommendation from Lonely Planet. The staff were friendly and helpful (Cash and Ramona), the layout was quirky, but the room were tiny and full of mozzys!!! The common area was nice enough, the separate shower areas and loos were ok (although could have done with a lick of paint and a clean!). We had a double room with a balcony and a (cold) shower. Great views over Chinatown. We left the next morning! We were told that breakfast could be taken at any time in the morning, but when we arrived downstairs at 10.05am, they had stopped! Compliments to the staff for trying... but be warned, don't go by the Lonely Planets recommendations for this hostel, especially in the low season! Great however, if you are traveling solo and on a tight budget/arent bothered by creepy crawlies!!

Nice place, good vibe and nice staff. Bathrooms were filthy and we never saw any cleaning staff The whole week. I know cockroaches are hard to control but when the breakfast area is covered in crumbs and never cleaned, it's no wonder that there are so many. Mr D nowhere to be seen and only one member of staff.

Location: central, 5-10 minutes to busstations, museums, waterfront, supermarket....

Dorms: ok size, 2 fans, lockers, beware of unmade beds, the staff seems to only change the linen from time to time so even if a bed isn't used, it might not be clean linen
bathroom: one has only cold water and they are both rather dirty as the staff spends their time watching youtube videos day and night

thre are some mugs and spoons available, most of the time there is no bread for breakfast though and don't ask the stuff for information about parks or similar stuff, they have no clue ( told me to go to Sabah if I want to see the Rafflesia, notwithstanding the fact that there is a Rafflesia park at Gunung National Park... and they don't really seem to speak english so well

They do have internet but you need to pay for it at least in theory, just ask somebody else in the dorm...

We were looking forward to staying here because it had had so many good reviews. We don't mind basic rooms if the atmosphere is great... but the atmosphere was unfriendly, the rooms were revolting and noisy, the breakfast horrid (didn't like the 1cm thick mould on the jams), the toilets disgusting and the service non-existent. Did we just get a bad day or something? I don't understand how anyone could give this place more than 1 star.
