“Fine Hostel in perfect place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

We spent four nights in this cozy place. It was very hot in Borneo but each room got AC and bathroom so we felt quiet comfortable when we went back to our room after traveling all day, discovering Sarawak attractions. The Hostel is just in front of Kuching's waterfront where we found it was really magic every evening, just sitting there outside and enjoying all those nice smiling people walking there, playing some instruments and so on. Definitely it was nice to stay at this hostel in Kuching.

I didnt enjoy my stay in this lodging. The rooms are old and musty, very small n creepy. I only stayed one night and had to move out to better hotel. Really discouraging you guys out there from staying here unless you are really desperate. Its really sad

The staff are simply lovely, every time you come or go they have a big smile and friendly word for you. The room is basic but clean, great air con and a very big, firm bed. Breakfast is just toast, some fruit would be nice. Location on main bazaar is perfect, right by the river and one street away from china town and little India. Downstairs has a lot of character. It is no 5 star hotel but for the price is very very good and a pleasure to stay here.

Recommended to stay at this lodge right in the centre of the historic Kuching town centre by a local friend. Formerly a more than 100 year old shophouse, renovated and turned into a lodge a few years ago. Very nicely maintained and staff are very helpful with personal touch.

The lodge is along the internationally famous Main Bazaar street specialising in selling Sarawak handicrafts and Borneo antiques. Something you do not normally easy to find similar in other parts of the world. I enjoyed the most viewing some displays at one of the shops known as The Sarawak Steamship Company which is the oldest surviving company and the first travel agent in Sarawak.

Room Tip: All rooms are not the same. Recommended to view the available rooms.

Every time we switched on the air-con, the whole hotel had no electricity! So in the end we had to find another hotel. The hotel charged us RM50 transaction fee plus 3 nights' stay on the credit card for not staying in the hotel at all!

Room Tip: Try not to stay in this hotel and also not to pay by credit card. Rooms facing the river are noisy a...

In brief,
No aircon facilities (that worked), no suitable room available (we are a family), flop house facilities, smoke filled corridors, threadbare sheets, dodgy electrics (you cannot charge mobiles etc - blows the fuse!). WE checked in and then out when a suitable room could not be found. They kept 10% of our deposit (they claimed our booking agent would charge them) and would not return cash lodged with them (at their instance) for breakages until this deposit had been settled. They then claimed to have paid us all our money back when the booking agent queried why they were trying to collect the room fees (via credit card). A scurrilous, deceitful owner/manager, low grade facilities and costly as well. They proudly display their Trip Advisor award winner notice in the lobby. Ho ho, must be a fake. Avoid at all costs!

Room Tip: Try a different hotel unless you like living in cramped dark conditions and the smell of cigarette s...

My friend, my sister and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was a wonderful stay. At first, we have small room on the second floor which suitable for 2 person but since my friend tag along on this trip, we decided to upgrade the room and the friendly reception lead us to attic room and we took it right away! Thank god for availability of the room anyway.

The room have 3 single beds with attached bathroom. It is an attic room since we have a staircase to go to another room which the reason why I chose the room

The room is equip
wih basic amenities. tv, a fan and air-conditioner (which is a must) because Kuching is quite humid.

The bathroom are clean and room itself are clean. it is a wooden interior which makes the room seems more cooler. Though I would warn you to be a bit silent and not be too noisy since the room are not sound proof. We can hear everything outside and next door. Fortunately, Kuching is peaceful at night and all of us sleep like baby for 3 nights straight.

The location are the best. It is in front of waterfront, in the main bazaar and near to Plaza Merdeka Mall. You can easily walk around the area.

Though it is a cool place i stay, I would say it is not suitable for older folks or people with knee problem. The stairs to go to the room are quite steep and high.

This lodge is recommended for a great trip to Kuching
