“Out of comfort zone and loving it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Just wanted to say a BIG thanks for our trip with Borneo Adventures to Batang Ai and Nunga Sumpa (we did the 3 day/ 2 night tour) early in October 2013. Being Australian city dwellers and full-time office workers we were really hoping this trip would take us out of our comfort zone, challenge us physically and culturally, and give us a unique experience - it fulfilled ALL our expectations!! We have significant, wonderful and lasting memories of a brilliant trip and experience.

It is a "back to basics" trip that is physically challenging - we are fit 50 somethings! Lots of the "walking" is up and down steep inclines that are slippery - falling is almost obligatory, but the landing on the forest floor is soft so no "damage" - not even a bruise!

There are toilets and showers (cold) at the two camps, the food provided is authentic and plentiful. Don't forget to bring along your own beer/ wine if that is your dinner drink choice (oh so refreshing after a days hiking!). Insect repellant is a must and if used makes evenings hassle free. We found the wildlife scarce, but what we did see was great. The rainforest and jungle is just as interesting as the wildlife, so even if you don't see any monkeys you will still have a memorable time.

Our thanks, respect and appreciation to our guide Gunie and the Iban tribe at Nunga Sumpa - it was lovley to get a glimpse of - and share - the Sarawak river and jungle world for a short time.

“Fabulous, wildlife very numerous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Not something to miss and bring your camera. Be sure to pay for a guide - they know where the animals live and hide. Without them you you will just be a westerner stumbling around and missing what is before you own eyes. Really very good indeed. If I had known - guidebooks do not do it justice. I would have stayed longer. Must be fit to get around. Not appropriate for very small kids or the elderly.

“For relax and peace of mind”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

If you are someone that like for an adventure, this is the place like no other, the sound of rainforest itself "hard to describe with word" but sure you know it...ride in an Iban(sea dayak) longboat is and adventure by itself, just imagine trying to balance yourself on a boat with only two or two and the half feet wide. If you are lucky enough to have a good boat men, he will show you how to fish with fish net on a boat.

“Wonderful excursion to Nanga Sumpa longhouse with Borneo Adventures”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

Nanga Sumpa is a place which is reached from Kuching via a 5 hour drive plus a 1,5 hour ride in a long boat. On arrival we where installed into a lodge close to a traditional long house community in the rain forest. The lodge was comfortable with large communal areas and fantastic rainforest surroundings. You can walk in the jungle and interact with the iban community, and in the evening visit the longhouse. It was a great experience to quickly form relationships with this community and to relaxe in this unique environment. I would highly recommend this excursion.

Batang Ai is a huge lake which is also a dam for hydro electricity. There are a beautiful luxurious accomodation Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort. We can feel the life of a iban community staying at a longhouse but with luxury facilities.

We were more to a relax trips staying at the luxury hotel and having some kayaking along the lake and also enjoy the natural forest of batang ai national park.
