~ room without window, very hot and you cant sleep because there are no fresh air at all after closed the door.

~ Don't talk about the breakfast... only bread (which do not know how long it put on the plate)

~ Toilets. Dirty and toilet lid was broken. (No one go to service..)

~ Treat local people (Malaysia) differently compare with western people.

~ Not organized. Always make customers missed the flight. (i'm one of them) staff called the driver to send us back BGB and cause missed the flight. Cheated us that they will help us settle the flight ticket. but all lied.

This place should be avoided at all costs. It promotes itself as central... but central to what? Its miles from any real amenities, miles from hustle and bustle, and in fact the neighbouring buildings are tyre shops. There are no windows in the rooms, so beware. The sheets were badly stained too. The management too are unsympathetic if you want to change accomodation due to the fanciful description of the accomodation and location. There is far better accomodation closer to the real centre of Kota Kinabalu that are a credit to themselves, for the same price. So think long and hard before staying here.

Unlinke many places in KK BGB is very very clean. They probably took some Australian backpacker places as an example, the rooms are very easy to maintain(plastic curtain, ikea furniture, plastic wrapped matrasses) basic rooms. A handfull of Twins and Doubles and many dorms. None of the rooms have their own bathroom. Two kitchens(food is cheap and delicous in the restaurants, so why cook???)Their website says they are in the center but whats centre? It takes about 10 minutes by taxi (7 ringgit) to get to the shopping centre, phillipine market and the jetty. The staff will call a taxi for you when you want to go out.
The staff is very helpfull and have a lot of knowledge about the area. Best to ask for info when the boss is not around, though he is a very nice guy, but in the end only interested in selling you the trips the hostel offers.
The hostel is in a...well not very buzzing area...which makes it perfect for a well deserved nights rest. I would recommend this place above others because of it cleanliness and helpfull staff. Remember the pick-up service from the airport!
