“Private bathroom at backpacker prices- just don't lose your receipt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

We spent a night in a family room for 83 ringgits. Our room faced onto a busy street but was surprisingly quiet. It won't win any design prizes, but was spacious and clean. The shower was powerful and warm (something of a rarity!), and the wifi worked fine. The central location was perfect for exploring the many wonderful eating spots of KK! Our check-in staff were friendly and helpful, but could not say the same of our check-out experience- a surly receptionist decided that it was more than her job was worth to give us our key deposit back as we couldn't place our hands on our receipt from checking in- despite the fact that the computer held details of exactly what we had paid! Needless to say we refused to return the key until she had returned our 17RM- it seemed like a pointless and frustrating bit of drama.

We had a shared twin facing street, which was noisy from traffic and Karoke till late. Room was small and scruffy, no basic maintenance had been done in bathroom let alone a good clean. It was sufficient for a couple of nights but we moved on afte that to a better hotel. Staff didn't seem to care less and there was no wifi despite it being advertised as being available.

Room Tip: Avoid street facing rooms.

I stayed in the family room. Though there's not much space to move about with a queen sized been and a single sized bed, it's just right for the money's worth. Very good choice for small budget stay-overs within the heart of the city!

During check-in,.the receptionist said she did not have our booking.I told her to recheck and she looked annoyed.but she found it.
No elevator, and no help to carry our luggage to 3rd floor.
No tea/coffee making facilities, TV? Can't watch anything. Bad TV/satellite..not sure.
Shower was the most irritating. Water comes and goes..and leaking everywhere when we turned iton. Most shock was when I saw a spider crawling under my pillow to the back of the bed.
Its near to everything. 7eleven, Suria Sabah mall, Jesselton jetty,a great Italian restaurant just around the corner.

Tourist Hotel is in a good location in the city center. The price is cheap and the rooms are enough comfortable and clean.
If you wish a room with private bath is better you go here then in the backpackers lodge.
