“Saved by the Tennis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Our experience with Resorts and Hotels has been quite large over the years and we are tennis lovers. When my wife found our that they had PureTennis Program we decide it over Shangri-la which has the tennis courts in very bad condition apparently. The Pacific Hotel, the rooms are ok, just 15 Chanels on the TV and very average breakfast packed with starving chinese. Although our tennis experience was quite unite. Puretennis has provide has a 10 hours coaching package during 4 days, where we made some serious improvement. The tennis complx is great with 5 court 3 of them covered, We have been clients in Bali of PureTennis and by far its the best service that we have experience at all resort. Its worthed for the Tennis!!!

The Chinese restaurant serves excellent food. While we had to pay extra for a wireless internet box in the room it was working well.

The breakfast, while a grand buffé the coffee is horrible, food tasting watered down, juice is watered down, staff at this restaurant not on the ball to clean up tables while there is many guests. Neither did I like the fact that rooms where not tidied up until after 5pm... The restaurant by the pool while having seafood all over the menu and on a big board at the entrance only serve such in the evening.. The house-wine... very lousy and undrinkable.

Room Tip: Ofcourse a room with seaview is a must.

We stay at this hotel (Pacific Sutera) every time we are in KK. My husband loves it & so does my son..The staff is very friendly & helpful.
Always crowded for breakfast but we expect that..though the buffet tends to get old if we stay more than 3 nights.. the beach is on the small side but we don't care cos my son loves the pool! Great location to the city. Easy boat transportation to the islands.

We stayed and the Magellan Sutera and as part of the resort could use all facilities of the Sutera Resort and sign everything back to our room whatever restaurant/bar/spa that we used.
Staff at the Magellan were exceptional. Always very friendly and helpfull especially those at the magnificent Fernandins restaurant. We had a delux sea view room which was a bit tired looking but were told by staff that the hotel is undergoing some major renovations in March 2013 which should rectify this. Also we had complementary wi fi to our room but found this non existent and like other guests found ourselves in the foyer or in restaurants trying to get some sort of reception. Hopefully this will be rectified with the renovations. Having said this we would stay at this hotel again as the atmosphere is very relaxing.

Room Tip: We had a Delux Sea View room on the 3rd floor and found it a little noisy with traffic exiting the h...

We arrived at 6,40am on a Monday morning 7h Jan at Magellan. The staff were excellent. We were upgraded. Had booked a sea view room at Magellan but got a suite. Heaven. Our bags were brought quickly. Breakfast and then slept. Staff best anywhere in the world. Could not do enough for you. Close to town 10 minutes on their shuttle. Everything in resort... boat to islands, swimming pools, golf etc. Meals fantastic. View from balconies great to watch with a drink in hand. Loved the mango smoothie by pool. Very helpful staff if you want to go somewhere..eg markets or other tourist places. Second visit and can't wait to go again. Well done all the staff who make your vist great. One week just not long enough.

Room Tip: Sea view looking over 5 islands. Heaven. If you can afford it a suite.

We arrived at the Pacific Sutera very late yet found check in to be very efficient and were in our rooms (7th floor sea view) very quickly.

The rooms themselves are spacious as are the adjoining bathrooms. Some reviews had mentioned the rooms being a bit tired, and there were signs of repairs having been made to tiling and such but in all the rooms were of a high standard. Travelling with 3 children, 3, 5 & 7 we took interconnecting rooms which worked well for us.

The bathroom has bath, sink, toilet and shower cubicle. Toiletries and towels refreshed daily and were of a good standard.

Room servicing was adequate. We elected not to receive the optional turn down service.

The room service menu was extensive and good quality and value. We never had to wait more than 25 minutes for delivery, and chose to use the service 4 times in 9 days.

The hotel and the resort share a selection of pools, from Olympic 50m to slide pools, shallow pools, pool bars. The kids and adults were always happy. Unlike some European resorts we never found a problem finding free beds and shades, despite the hotel being full for the festive period.

A good selection of restaurants are available. Out preferred setting was Breeze...between the pool and the beach. It's new and service was finding its feet but the food was good and the setting tranquil. The Silk Garden had great Chinese. Muffinz did fish fingers and chips that the kids and I loved. There were many other options. All that we tried were good. Breakfast was at Cafe Boleh which had an eclectic selection that couldn't fail to satisfy all but the most fussy eaters.

Babysitting services are available. As is a kids club at either the marina resort or the Magellan. We stayed in the Pacific, but all facilities are shared.

It's a great resort. The staff and management are friendly. The guests are a real cross section of Asian, Australasian and a few Europeans and Americans. English of a fair standard is spoken throughout.

We had a great stay, particularly as the kids were so happy, and would return without hesitation. The hotel offers great value when compared to the cost of some nearby 5* resorts, admittedly it is not quite on a par with them, but not too far off!

The view of the Marina and the sea is captivating. Rooms are well decorated and spacious. Location is not too far from town, not the best location but i think is a good get away from the town. There's a bar that is quite cozy a good place to just chill out and relax over a few drinks.
