“Remote resort north of KK for a retreat.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013 via mobile

Tranquil and quiet place for retreat and rest without noises. Variety choices of food in the resort ( though price is high ) if do not wish to go outside for food. Best is the sun set in the evening over the beach. It is a remote resort - definitely nothing else nearby without transport.

This was were we went for our honeymoon. We were collected from the airport by the hotel transport and upon receptionthe greeted with a cool drink and a nice cool cloth. Our room was a deluxe suite with petals on the bed and in the bathroom, with chocolates and fruit plentiful. The grounds were immaculate with a beautiful white sandy beach. Great pool area, gym and nice restuarant which we used on one occasion. Attached is a Orang Utan reserve, which is the reason we chose this place, prior to moving onto Sepilok. My only disappointment is that I didn't stay here longer!!!!

This is a great hotel. The rooms are very comfortable with all you would expect. Beautiful grounds, swimming pool and beach.
However it is a long way from anywhere so the hotel really has a captive audience. This is a holiday hotel and therefore it gets a bit expensive after a week or two eating and drinking on site. The restaurant service was really good and the food delicious. The food was served quickly which did not make for a relaxed dinner and evening. There was not a lot to do after your evening meal so it was back to the room to watch a film. The oran atang sanctuary was impressive and well worth a visit.

Rasa Ria is located on a white sand beach, encapsulated by jungle, it has several wings each with their own pool. The eateries and bars were great and offered a good selection not only of food but locations. Service was friendly and discreet.
Unfortunately there on business so unable to take part in the activities offered.
The beach and water activities, along with the beautiful pools make it an ideal holiday venue for families.
It is eco friendly and has an orang utang sanctuary for orphaned babies. The golf course must be a paradise for golfers, scenic and well maintained. Resident families of otters live in the water hazards.
The only downside was the condition of the horses which were available for beach rides. To say they were SPCA cases would be putting it mildly . They were thin, some in obvious pain and generally badly looked after.
If it hadn't been for the horses this hotel would have scored 5 stars.

Dear Tweetgw,
Thank you for taking time to share your experience with us. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay overall. At the same time we are very concerned to hear your feedback with regards to the condition of the Horses. Although we do not operate the Horse Stables directly we work in partnership with the Horseback Riding Stable and complete regular checks on the condition of their facility and horses. We take this and any other guest experience that we facilitate very serious. We have since asked the local Veterinarian to conduct a review of the horses to ensure that they are being treated properly. Be assured that we will monitor this closely. Thank you again for bring this to our attention and feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss further.
Sincerely,
Randy Zupanski

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Every single staff member offers a fantastic smile and the best service ever. Restaurants are fantastic, day spa is beautiful and the ladies there are very professional. Activities are excellent, and the pool is great. Very nice place to go if you would like to get away from reality and relax for a week or two.

We loved it so much we are going there again this year.

Room Tip: We stayed in the ocean facing Superior rooms with 1 child - on the top floor. Room was great, no com...

We stayed here for a week but wish we'd been staying much longer! What a fantastic place! Absolutely idyllic setting and superb service from the very courteous and friendly staff (every one, from the gardener to the F/B director) made it a wonderful experience. We stayed in the ocean wing so we had the private pool area which was amazing and only 100 meters to the beautiful, empty beach. We had a hot bath tub on our balcony, which we used to watch the sunset in most evenings! Fresh fruit and chocolates every day in our room was a nice touch. The restaurants are all very nice and the bar in the lobby is a very nice are to relax and listen to the band. Even though work is taking place at the moment it's pretty quiet and we got a 250MR credit each day. And to top it off, the orang-utans inside the hotels jungle, were so cute!

Room Tip: If you can afford it, gat an ocean view room.
