“Hyatt Rgegency Kota Kinabalu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

We arrived at the hotel after a grueling flight from KL via Labuan (aircraft problem at Labuan)
got through the booking in procedure and on the advice of a Expat went to the Cafe and had
Ox tail soup (western style and Malaysian style) beutiful just calmed us down and glasses of cold
water helped and the very helpful and lovely staff looking after us, all our breakfasts in the hotel
we enjoyed trying both Western and Malysian, my wife enjoyed all the fruit especially, i used the Gym and it was good for me, had everything I wanted to use, We used to Business centre to
send E-Mails to the family and the staff were kind and looked after us old timers very well. the room was good no real hassles, but no little line to hang our "smalls" on, the wife said would have
liked to have a bath, but no problems with that. Shopping is out the front door and across the road for some lovely material as my wife is into craft sewing, supermarket and shopping mall very close by, it is like Penang which we lived in fourty odd years ago as far as some areas, this is the Malaysia we both love to visit.

i was delighted to stay in this charming hotel. I stayed three nights, and my room had a fantastic view of the sea, the yachts and ferries, and of nearby islands and mountains. The room itself was very comfortable, large and airy, good furniture, and excellent local paintings. The staff were super courteous, always smiling and eager to please, and efficient too. The restaurants were top quality, and served very good food, both continental and local, and the buffet breakfast was a banquet in itself. It was great value for the price of the room, and matched Hyatt standards of other cities..

I recently stayed here and it was a great experience. The Club King Room we had was a good size and was cleaned and restocked each day. We had access to the Club Room which was worth paying extra for because you got breakfast each morning, non alcoholic drinks throughout the day, and canapés with cocktails at night. So we really only needed to get lunch. The Club Lounge staff were excellent, very attentive and friendly, especially Erlina, Junaidy and Colin. It was close to everything and there was a good choice of restaurants in house including some great cocktails for about $7 AUD! I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want that extra touch but for not much more money.

Room Tip: Get a Club King Room. It's worth paying extra to get access to the Club Lounge.

The hotel is close to shops and restaurants on the northern end of the KK waterfront.
The rooms are spacious and clean with no balconies but a pool.
They do a fantastic breakfast and have 2 attached bars one an Irish Pub (like KK really needs 4 Irish Pubs) The bathrooms are big with a good shower, what you would expect from a 5 Star hotel.

This hotel is in a central location and within walking distance of everything. Walk thru the door and anything you need is taken care of, friendly doormen, restaraunt staff and bar staff. The swimming pool is secluded and shaded. Towels are supplied. The rooms are great, bedlinen is changed every day and toiltries topped up. Shopping centre next door with great prices.

This hotel is well appointed. The club room was large with a rain shower and large bath. I liked the room with interesting paintings and a nice view of the hills around. The staff were all very friendly and always willing to help. The club room staff were very attentive from getting omelettes to organising a trip to Sandakan. The club rooms were worthwhile with breakfasts in the morning and canapés in the evening. Coffee, tea and soft drinks available all day. The pool was nice to relax around but occasionally had a not very nice aroma from the markets across the road. This hotel is close to Medeka shopping centre, little Italy restaurant and KFC. The gym is well appointed and was staffed at the times I went there. There is a bakery on the premises that sells a variety of muffins, cakes, pies, savoury meat and apple pies. There is a Japanese and Chinese restaurant in the hotel along with a buffet restaurant. The room service menu is very well priced. I would recommended this hotel to anyone visiting Kota Kinabalu.

Staying here for five nights at the moment. Three nights in and this hotel has just been out of this world. I travel frequently around the world and have stayed at many four and five start hotels. Hyatt Kota Kinabalu is def up there in my top 10. Yes the hotel was built in 1977. It has retained some of it's old world charm but with very modern rooms and facilities such as pool and spa. The staff are outstanding in the true meaning of the word. Very attentive, friendly and will do anything to assist and make your trip enjoyable. I can't believe some of the negative reviews on here. If you want finished yesterday hotels then shop for that. The hotel is clean and very well maintained even the lobby area which has old stained wood and original tiles and a unique bakery with freshly baked cakes and breads (all excellent). I stayed in a sea view room with a executive club option. I'd highly recommend it. Great morning buffet, coffee and cool drinks all day and nibbles and drinks between 5-7. My room is huge with a rain shower, view of the islands and sea, king bed, desk, lounge suite and the toilet, bathroom area is huge and very unique. Great attention to detail with nice floor lighting, big screen tv, wooden floors with a great rug and best of all an excellent bed and clean. Did I mention the staff and service are excellent?

Room Tip: Sea view room without a doubt. Also go for the executive club package. Great value.....
