“Excellent stay and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Very beautiful resort by the beach. The staff was very helpful and polite. Transports to city & town are organised very quickly for us. The room was very nice, although there was a smoke smell despite the fact that I asked for a non-smoking room (It didn't spoil my experience but wuld have been better without.) Food was very good & croissants were great!

Our Sabah itinerary was that we moved to this hotel from the Rasa Ria . It is more sophisticated, busy and fully booked as it was a city/holiday hotel. We stayed in a club room as we like to finish our holiday on a high. The room was lovely and very comfortable overlooking the bay and Mount Kinabalu. We have stayed in a few club rooms around the Far East. The club lounge was a little tired with no atmosphere. The drinks and food were excellent except breakfast which was chaotic. The girls did there best but as the hotel was full more staff were needed to either cook or clear the tables! Generally the staff were helpful and very friendly. The hotel was a short cab ride away from the city so there was plenty to see and do.

My wife and I stayed here for a week in May. This has got to be one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are VERY clean, spacious and have all the facilities you would expect in a 5 star resort. The breakfast is the most extensive range I have experienced. The groups, pool and beach are kept immaculately. Do make trip to the sunset bar, it is worth it. The drinks and food are bit cheaper the Perth prices but not by much. We walked south along the beach to the hawkers food place where we ate for around AUD$14 for 18 satays, 2 big plates of nasi goreng & 2 huge fruit juices, it was way to much food for us but was cheap and tasty. You do not have to venture outside the resort as everything you could possibly want is there, in fact we didn't go out for the first 3 days.

We will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room, it cost us an extra $20 for 6 nights web were there.

Just returned from a two week stay and what an outstanding stay it was too.

I would highly recommend this hotel more so than the rasa ria. at the tanjung you get a very warm welcome with a smile with every member of staff. We felt we did not get half the attention on our visit to the rasa ria.

The tanjung is a 5 star hotel so do expect to pay a little more 6GBP for a bottle of beer. The rooms are very big/clean and the food is to die for.

If you don't want to eat in the hotel you can get into kk by bus before 6pm for 2 ringgit buses finish at 7pm then you have to get a taxi back.

A ten minute walk away Just past the golf course is a local food court which is very very cheap with a good friendly atmosphere. Just behind there are a couple of restaurants/bars.

In all we had a magical time in Borneo with the visit to turtle island to see turtles at night lay eggs on the beach and swim back off and then to see newborns being released back into the sea is something we will never forget.

Room Tip: sea view a must.

My family and I stayed here, and found it to be perfect. Great service, isolated and quiet. Perfect for families or couples looking for that perfect, relaxing holiday. Rooms are very spacious and incredibly comfortable. Food is excellent here, and the buffet restaurant is of an excellent standard, and the menu pretty much changes every two days so you never get bored !. The staff are incredbily polite and helpful, even go out of their way to assist you. There's hardly a thing to find wrong with the hotel. If I had to pick on something, it would be the exposed lobby, although covered, and with a large number of fans, it gets quite hot and sticky in there due to the humidity. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: A room facing the ocean is stunning, especially at night, sometimes you can see the lightening storm...

Stayed here during May 15-18, 2013 with 2 girl friends. Despite all the mixed reviews I read online I think shangrila TA did not let me down.
The hotel is located approx 15 min from airport. Transport to hotel was included in the package i bought but I think if you take a taxi it should not cost more than 30RM.

Upon arriving we were greeted by friendly staffs. The interior of the lobby immediately takes our breath away.

Our room was located on the tanjun wing on 3rd floor n it was not a far walk from the lobby. The room is spacious, with a nice fish pond / sea view, big bathroom with tub and shower, balacony...etc
We paid money for an additional bed (in which they just opened a sofa bed for us)..but staffs were very friendly and catered for our ad hoc requests (i..e more toothbrush, soap, towel, slipper etc.)

Breakfast (7;30-10:30am) was included in my package and it was a pretty good selection of buffet food (omlet, break, chinese, cereal, wide selection of fruit juice, yoghurt, noodle). I would highly recommend buying this breakfast if your package doesnt include it.

Facility / entertainment wise, i managed to go to 2 of the free daily classes that was provided by the hotel free of charge. Namely I managed to go to the yoga classes held on thursday and saturday morning at 8am. though it was pretty early i would recommend yogis to try this because the studio is an open one and over looks the sea. It was an amazing experience. Other classes also include palates and cooking sessions.

I also managed to use the pool once, though it was in a funny shape (rounded?), I think it was decently sized enough to get a good swim. (warning it is pretty deep)

At night there is live music near the "bar" at the hotel lobby. though I was disappointed there was no beach open bar, the prices for happy hour drinks were quite decent (like 30RM buy one get one free on beer, red and white.. very cheap indeed ).

Will definitely come back if I return.
