“popular seafood tourists restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

it is located in tourist area, it is overpriced but we enjoyed sabah seafood as well as twin-sky restaurant (suang tian) that we visited earlier (these are located in the same area). variety of menu, fresh seafood, fast sevice and the price was reasonable (it is tourist area). we ordered clams with ginger soup, fried fern (paku pakis), butter prawns, steamed fish and beers. total bill was RM185, fish was RM85.

“Live Seafood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

Eating seafood was one of my must have in Kota Kinabalu.Walking distance from our Hotel Le Meridien and easy to find. The place alone is a tourist attraction esp for people not familiar with eating live seafood from the tanks. Lots of edible marine life. Fascinating and quite educational. The place was hot and noisy but popular with locals. There are many restaurants in this complex. Many touters encouraging guests to eat at their establishment.
We ordered mud crabs, steamed stone fish (never tasted before) and small rice. The crab was very tasty but the stone fish was a bit bland. For afters we had soft white coconut served in a coconut shell (very cooling). We couldn't order any more as we would have liked as there were only the 2 of us. It cost 91.00 MR. I will go there again sometime to try the mantis prawns, coconut crabs, shells and clamps and the many varieties of fish.

This is in a big complex and very average food.
We also found it noisy.
Service brisk but not at all friendly. no smile.
The serves are small for the price.

“Reasonable price & Average meal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

We, 3 adults, ordered simple steam fish (not life) and prawns, honey fried chicken, fried bitter gourd with eggs. The food taste average and price reasonable. Service was quite fast. There are about 5-7 restaurants. We have eaten at 2 others before and decided to give Hua Hing a try since the restaurant have many customers at that time. May give it a try again for other dishes & style of cooking.

“Average food, overpriced.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Hua Hing was located at this big compound together with many other seafood restaurants that was very crowded & full of Chinese tourists. We choose our seafood and when we mentioned prawns, the staff immediately brought us to the Tiger prawn tank and insisted that we try it. She ordered 2 prawns for us at RM30 each. When it came we were truly disappointed. It was only at most 4 inches in size and tasted like ordinary prawn (S$12 each!). The steam fish was fresh but again very small for the price. We also ordered a small portion of fish lips and vegetables which were not very good. The whole meal cost us about S$100. The next day we passed by a Chinese seafood restaurant in a much nicer setting & Tiger prawn was at RM20 each!
