“Already missing the grilled prawns there!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Since my hotel is just across the street, i had 3 dinners there during my vacation!

OMG, good value and yummy seafood everywhere! All seafood is grilled and covered with a light spicy sauce, delicious! (not only seafood, there are tons of stalls selling bbq chicken wings). Everything is charged at a really low price, so basically there's no room for the bargain lovers to practice their bargaining skills (the max that we got was RM5 discount). Make sure to ask where you can sit when getting the food, one time I got the food and they said it's a to-go so i can't take any seats. But in general the food sellers are very nice, if u buy their food and grab a seat that belongs to them, they wont bother if you bring some other bbq chicken from other stalls.

OH, and I accidentially tried a local drink in this market and i love it! It's called ABC! It's with jelly, corn, peanut, and something like skim milk?? Well, it's yum!

* if you eat there, please dont care about the manners, it will get messy no matter what. One plus is they always have a tea-pot looking thing on the table for washing ur hands.

“Pearl lovers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

For pearl lovers, this is a place where you can bargain.
However, for those who are particular on the quality of pearls, you should visit jamilah jewellery behind le meridien hotel which offers modern design pearls with quality products.

“Good place to visit, but don't expect anything epic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

As a local, let me share my input about this place - It's VERY heavily dependent on tourists - locals hardly (if ever) go there, except for a snack if they're in the area. Unfortunately the area is considered rather unsafe, but it's not some dark, crime-filled area - just be aware of pickpockets and you'll be fine.

That said, it is a really nice place to explore if you're not familiar to this kind of markets. The selection of souvenirs is quite good - although the items sold are similar it's a great place to pick up gifts. You need to be really good at bargaining tho. They will charge you a lot if you are very visibly a tourist. When I went there to purchase something, I got the item for less than half the price on the price-tag. Sad but true.

If you're not interested in buying souvenirs, I would definitely highly recomment trying out the food, especially the pandan coconut!!! It's something that would lure me to go back regularly. The pandan coconuts are the best, and sitting by the stalls sipping cool delicious coconut would make a great experience, I think. It's tasty and reasonably priced.

Overall, a pretty good place to visit if you've never been to. It's a huge advantage to have a local go with you!

“Really nice market!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

I loved to walk around through the market =) People sell nearly the same all the time but I found many souvenirs there and when we were back in Kuala Lumpur I was a little bit sorry that I didn't buy more because the prices were cheaper and the selection bigger.
