“Spotlessly clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2010

Very nice hotel, very clean, nice rooms, bit small but fine at that price. Maybe could do with a small fridge in the room, just to keep milk, beer etc. Well-run, good location, next to supermarket with a little cafe, close to big new shopping centre, which will be very good when it is fully-operational. Cinemas, bookshop, cafes etc. All in all, very good deal.

Eden54 is a lovely hotel, the staff are the most helpful I have ever come across. They helped us plan our day trips, travel to Sandakan and hotels on the way. Couldn't have asked for any more. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms are clean and not a bad size, free internet, the only thing missing is a bar.

As a solo traveller I was given a very very small room with a queen bed at the minimum advertised price, and offered a full sized room for a higher price. The small room did fit me but a second person would have been too many. The room had air con but the bathroom was shared with another room and was down a short corridor. Room was clean, bathroom ok, room was quiet despite being close to a main road and over shops. Overnight car parking just across the road was very cheap and a wonderful stall selling breakfasts of all sorts opens each morning next door.

Hi Ihavetried10names -
The very small room you had was actually our spare/ reserve room, not to be mistaken for any of our regular rooms, and the price is below our minimum advertised price. This spare / reserve room is not advertised or offered in our website. It is always shown to our guests first so they can check it out before they confirm accepting it. This response is given so that our readers will not be mistaken this spare room for our Petite room.

Hotel Eden54 is highly deserving of the praise expressed in previous reviews. We spent 3 nights there and could not fault it. In fact we have recommended it to family members who have now made a booking to stay there later in the year.
From the warm, friendly welcome by Ling Ling and Rosanne to the clean. comfortable rooms it ticks all the boxes. We originally booked for two nights and, despite being almost fully booked, Ling Ling cheerfully worked out a way to accomodate us for an extra night and Alfred made sure that we had a room to freshen up in during the change over. By the time we left it was like saying good bye to old friends.
If ever we go back to K K, and I hope we do, we will definitely want to stay at the Hotel Eden 54.

I can see why this hotel is well rated on Trip advisor. It is fantastic for the price and in a great location between the centre of KK and Jessleton point jetty where all the boats leave from for the islands. There is also a really nice super market right next door and Jalan Gaya has plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.

The rooms were comfy and clean although we did get given towels that were stained and there isn't a lot of space, also they give tea and coffee but not enough milk and sugar for both so you have to ask for more. Having said this though it is very good for its price range those are just minor things, overall it is a really pleasant hotel.

The only thing I would recommend is that you make reservations and check them before you arrive as we had trouble both times we arrived at the hotel. The first time we booked via their website three days before we were due to arrive and they only replied on the day we were due to arrive when we were already traveling and could not check our e-mails. So when we turned up they didn't have us down on their list. They did manage to find space for us but we had to move rooms twice, each time though they came to help us move our bags so it wasn't too difficult and they were very apologetic about it.

The second time we e-mailed the owner 2 days before arriving and then couldn't check our e-mails at all, this time when we arrived they couldn't fit us in but they had arranged for us to stay in another hotel just down the road. These problems were probably mostly our fault but I think their booking system could be better and I would definitely recommend booking as much in advance as you can as they are very busy.

I traveled alone to Kota Kinabalu, but when I arrived, I felt like I had family!! This hotel's staff is amazing. I was very sad to leave them! I was a little wary when booking because the hotel is new, and I couldn't find reviews on it. But I was blessed for sure! The hotel was so clean and comfortable. The location is great also, close to everything. I can't believe I didn't pay more for what I got. What a great value!! Don't stay anywhere else!

Clean simple rooms, for our climb of mount Kinabalu. Location is excellent, well the town is tiny anyway, but there is an excellent italian restaurant (stone oven) right around the corner, and everything you need within a walk away.

We were exhausted from climbing, but the management (Rosanne, Alfred and Ling Ling helped us greatly, driving us to a nearby restaurant late at night, making coffees for us in the morning, and arranging massages to fix our weary bodies. Fantastic service, topping off excellent value rooms.

The hotel has free wifi, and also a computer. Would certainly stay again at Eden54 next time we are back for the mountain!
