“Great stay, staff and location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We stayed at Hotel Eden 54 at the beginning and end of our trip to Borneo. There were quite a few options of places to stay, but for room quality, staff friendliness, location, wifi and cost, Hotel Eden 54 ticked all the boxes. We arrived quite late our first night and we had a room with no window, which was fine, and found the room to be clean and spacious. The staff recommended a local restaurant a couple doors down, which was good for Malay food. The next day we walked around some of KK and everything was very close to the hotel. We checked out just after 12 which was a perfect time with a flight at 2pm. When we came back we arrived at 1130 and our room wasn't ready so we went for lunch and when we came back an hour later the staff had managed to find us a room as we were quite tired from an early start and wanted a rest. This one had a window which overlooked a street and don't think it was really needed. We went to the night markets that night, which were very close and an amazing experience. The next morning we went to the Sunday markets, which are a couple blocks away and go on for ages (an experience!). Once again we checked out after 12 as our flight wasn't till 3 and that worked out perfectly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the center of KK.

Room Tip: A window is nice, but not necessary.

I have to say that our stay in hotel Eden 54 was flawless. It was spotlessly clean and the main receptionist, Ling Ling was exceptionally helpful about booking tours and sorting out accommodation. We had to move rooms when we came back from some treks up in turtle island and when we came back our bags were oreads in the room. Nothing seemed to be a problem.
I would highly recommend this hotel. It was great value and Ling Ling was genuinely friendly and helpful. We appreciated it!

Room Tip: All good. We were in quite a few!

It lives up to its reputation. Rosanne, Ling Ling and all the staff are wonderfully tolerant and helpful. Both wonderful ladies have a great sense of humour which makes the dialogue that much more enjoyable. The location is close to Jesselton Point for ferries to the islands and an easy walk to anywhere in the downtown area, including the night markets. If you just want an easy solution to shopping or food there are western style supermarkets and restaurants near-by. I re-arranged my bookings to fit in with trips to other parts of Sabah and it was no trouble, even though they were heavily booked. I will return!

I have been traveling as much as possible for the past 50 years. Hotel Eden 54 is the best value and most friendly hotel I have experienced in my past travels. Ling Ling & Rosanne could not have been better hosts. They were always happy to answer questions and help with arrangements throughout Borneo. The location is great and walking distance to most major businesses of interest to travelers. I would recommend Hotel Eden 54 with the highest possible rating. Jack Anderson Eugene Oregon USA

We had to run out of the horrible love we had booked first "Le Hotel" and upon recommendation from a tour guide booked a room at Eden 54. The rooms are decent sized, clean, decorated lovely and the hotel is located walking distance from shops and restaurants but not so close that you're in the middle of the loud and busy buzz. What makes this hotel such a great place is the staff! They were beyond just good customer service. They went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Always genuinely interested in how our excursions went and had the best advice on what to do and where to go. This woul definitely be one of the best spots to stay in KK and that makes the low price just ridiculous!

The hotel situated within the walking distance from the big shopping center (not sure of the name) and across the road, there were plenty of green to look at. The room was very clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. From what I can remember, breakfast was not included in the price but there was a bar where coffee and tea were provided. RECOMENDED

For the money the RM159 'studio' room is very good value in KK.

Whilst i dont really agree with their definition of studio (to me this indicates a much larger room) it was well furnished, clean and comfortable. The view was over the main road but as the friendly lady at reception pointed out, the windows meant that noise was minimal. Room had replenished tea/coffee each day - standard nescafe coffee. Didnt have the tea but think it was the local sabah tea which is nice. No fridge however but for the price that is sort of understandable. Overall the staff were really friendly people, even if we did not require too much assistance, when we did - they helped out efficiently and cheerfully.

Location is excellent for us. We went snorkelling to the TAR islands twice, and the hotel is just 10 mins walk from Jessleton point where the boats depart. No breakfast included in the hotel, but just next door is a handy place selling noodles first thing in the morning (before 8am) for RM2 a go. Tasty stuff.
Also a fruit shop a further couple of shops down (same people i think) where we had delicious cut fruit to take away including mango. In the other direction from the hotel, you reach the main part of Jalan Gaya with many more eating options. Finally, the waterfront is about a 10 min walk and the night market a further 5-10 minutes. All easy going walks and straightforward.

We had an evening flight so left our bags at the reception area all day and were comfortable with that as it felt secure with staff constantly around. Overall I think we'd definitely stay here again on a visit to KK.
