“Affordable and excellent hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

This hotel is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are clean, modern and hotel staff are friendly. However, the buffet breakfast served is the same everyday as they do not change the menu.

We do not mind the distance as we have a car. And since it is attached to the mall, we find it convenient as we have a place to go during rainy days.

Parking is a little inconvenient as they have limited free parking for guest (which is always full). We parked at the mall at RM2 per entry/day and RM10 overnight charge on weekdays. Upon exit, we were charged RM14 (RM2+RM10+RM2). The parking fees is worst if you park on a weekends as the charges are by hourly rate. We subsequently found out that we can get a season pass for RM10 per day. Better, but its not free...

Overall, will recommend this place to everyone with a car as the rooms are perfect and affordable.

We booked an Executive Suite on the 15th Floor. It was very reasonably priced and came with a number of complimentary services and inclusions. The staff were fantastic, always said hello and nothing was a problem. the hotel itself is only 18 months old and attached to a large shopping mall which was very convenient. It is located about 20 minutes from the town centre and 30 minutes from the airport (50 ringgit in a taxi) We would definitely stay again and thoroughly recommend to all.

Located in Likas area, not far from University Malaysia Sabah. Not suitable for anyone who want to walk around city but for people who want to chill out and away from busy city this is gem. Clean, nice staff and easy access to internet plus near to shopping mall. It's a wonderful stay. We can have everything we need in the room such as fridge, safety box, iron and board, kiblat directions ( for Muslim ).

Hotel location abit far from city centre but shuttle bus available in every hours, just need to pre-book during the buzy hours.

Received excellent service from the hotel staffs - Front Offce Manager, Receptions, Waiteress in Coffee house and Housekeeping too. They greet us with a big smile everytime / everywhere.

Buffet breakfast in the coffee house are just nice, not lots of choice but just nice to fill our stomach full with satisfactions.

Room are clean and well kept. I stayed in the Club Deluxe with 2 kids aged 9&10, they love the bathtub so much, it is something different from the normal hotel room bathtub. just check it out!!

I am returning to the hotel next month for business trip, its worth to stay in Grand Borneo Hotel for Business or leisure.

This is a business class looking hotel.
Lobby: nothing fantastic, but it serves its purpose, don't expect glamour. Overall nice and pleasant.
Staff: fantastic, friendly and helpful- 5 star
Room. Whilst not spanking new- very pleasant and not tired looking either. We stayed in the superior and I have stayed at 5 star resorts that did not have as nice a room. Beds big and firm (if you like firm). Plenty of room. Fantastic bathrooms,. Very pleasantly surprised at the hight standard of the room.
B'fast: For the price of the rooms that include b'fast. why complain. It is great value. Yes the banana bread was a bit old under the heat lamp, but the rest was good. No variety in bread and no pastries, but the egg station was good. There was a nice variety of Asian food and a selection of fruit and cereals. Seriously- it is value, not 5 star ( but you're not paying 5 tar) but very much a great and enjoyable b'fast. The room itself is bright and pleasant. I enjoyed every morning as the staff were just lovely.
Cafe- at the lobby, they really need to look better at this as it is a half heated effort at a cafe. Not worth looking at- nothing more that a few tables and chairs. Not inviting at all.
Location: Loved the shopping till 10pm then walking a few steps into our room. Heavenly for tired feet. Loved the shopping mall. Came back over weight but Malaysian airlines were very kind to us:)
Overall. I would come back for sure. Because you can't beat the value for money here. I would stay here for half the holiday for the shopping mall and it is not too far from the town centre and then half at a resort which is further away. That way I get very cheap accommodation and shopping before a total relax at a resort.

I stayed here for a stopover b4 beginning my journey to Sandakan. Very good hotel - great value for money. Rooms are nicely decorated - only negative is the size of the rooms are slightly small. There is a shopping mall just connected to the hotel.

One thing I found annoying - they have an indoor pool BUT the pool is closed when it is raining! makes no sense.....

I've stayed for 4D/3N. It's a good 4 star hotel with 5 star services, The room was clean and simple. The people is very helpful and friendly, the most important is very comfortable and worth staying. They even offering a free shuttle bus to town from Morning till Evening, and the bus are available every half an hour, the best part was you can make early reservation for the time u wish to depart for your convenience. The thing that kinda disappointed me was the food over there, how could a breakfast buffet is better than lunch and dinner. Not much variety and quality wise is really below my expectation. But the ala carte was OK. And the price was very reasonable, the pizza promotion that they have was really worth. MYR 10 size of a dinner plate. Overall really enjoying the stay!!!!!
