“Good Cheap Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

The hawker foods were average but the fresh juices delicious. Go there if you want a cheap meal and you can buy cheap beer there as well, which is sometimes difficult in Penang

“Great place with a nice atmosphere and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

Of course, single dishes compared to hawkers other places in the city will fall through, the total package that Red Garden delivers is very good. Great choices of food, and everything we had (went 5 times) was good. Try the fillipino stall if you go, they serve som real treats.

“Beware Tourist Rip-off”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

The evening began with the beer girls wanting your order and continually filling your glass up to get another sale. The mutton and chicken satays were good. I priced a fish, that at Longbeach is RM$25, and they were asking RM$45 for a fish who's eyes were covered by ice but on inspection were very cloudy, whereas the fish with clear eyes were proudly laying on top of the ice. It got worse, I ordered a chicken and cashew along with green curry and rice from the Thai stall and was amazed at the speed which our dishes arrived. The vegetables and cashews with the chicken were warm but the deep fried chicken that was obviously added to the dish at the end of the cooking were cold. No wonder I had gastro the next morning. Never going back to Red Garden. Plenty of other excellent food outlets nearby such as Ho Ping, Tek Sen, Hameediyah and Line Clear.

“What a great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Absolutely the best place to eat in Penang. a heap of vendors selling everything from desserts to beer to Japanese, Malaysian, western etc etc etc. All at great prices. The only minus is that is its only open in the evening. Well worth the visit.

“Only quality food, I've almost tried them all !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Soft hawker style would be my description, easy to choose from a multitude of stalls providing a range of asian meals - even a portuguese place
good quality food, clean enough, efficient service without hassles, daggy entertainment but fun
keep them in business
