“Best KongSi in Penang they say...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

I'm told that this is the best KongSi in Penang, but not having visited othersI can't quite substantiate that claim. However, the temple is a very beautiful and ornate and defiantly worth a look.

The attached museum for me wasn't so interesting though.

“Stunning Clan house and museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Visiting this architecturally stunning piece of Georgetown history is a must. The structure is elaborately decorated, and the interior provides well displayed information on the history of the clan in their homeland and in Malaysia. This exquisite building is a testament to the commercial success of the early clan members, and credit is due the current clan stewardship for maintaining it in pristine condition, while sharing their history with the general public.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013 via mobile

A tantalising glimpse into the workings of a clan house, their heritage and family. Our guide, a native Malay/Chinese lady was most instructional in explaining all the inner workings of the clan and the respect that they have for their ancestors. The architecture is stunning along with the opera house opposite making a great backdrop for filming the remake of Anna and the king with Jodie Foster & Yun-Fat Chow. The area around is being turned, sadly, into a back packing hostel....

“Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

The Khoo Kongsi which is now reduced to a house and courtyard at one time included the entire neighborhood. The house is not big, and I would recommend that you start your tour with the museum at the bottom and then work your way up. The entire tour will take you less than 30 minutes.

“Nice clan house!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

A very old and well-preserved chinese clan house inside of Khoo kongsi.
It's exquisite and stunning due to the fact that Khoo kongsi retained authentic historic setting.

At the back of it you could explore it's theatre and chance upon 18 of the 36 Celestial Guardians on the right wall of the Cheng Soon Keong and the remaining 18 on the left walls.
some of the well-known Celestial guardian includes , "He xian Gu", "Lei Gong" and "Li Jing"(The pagoda guy whose kid was called "Ne zha")

It's really a magnificent sight to visit this historical attraction in Penang. The entrance fee per person is 10RM.
