Well located in Georgetown.

Breakfast choices shall be improved, especially the coffee & tea which is currently served through vending machine.

Parking is hidden and with poor signage.

The Philippino night band is very good.

We have stayed for 5 nights in this hotel and the famous "Jalan Penang" is a stone throw away, with all the old time Penang restaurants and local food stalls. The famous Penang Assam Laksa and desserts are all along the area. For the lazy walkers, the "red garden" food centre after 7pm would provide you with all the local food and entertainment you would want to eat and enjoy.

Around the block of this hotel without crossing any road, you can find all the drinking holes to fulfill your drinking desire.

We had our most relaxing stay in this hotel.

Stayed there nights. Got an upgraded room with view...of a grey concrete wall twenty feet away! We didn't mind since we felt the rate was pretty reasonable and we were hardly in during the day. Room was reasonably large and clean except for some strands of hair in the bathroom! The sixth floor corridor was somewhat musty but on the higher levels, the corridors overlook a lovely and bright atrium. Best stick to the higher floors and choose rooms where the views face away from the adjacent office building. Parking is convenient for those who drive. Free in fact, provided you have the ticket endorsed at the reception. No problem there unless you head there during peak hours when the queues are horrendous long due to limited staffing. On staff courtesy, it's somewhat mixed. Except for some of the ladies, the men at the counter were rather glum in temperament. When they were informed that the wake-up call I ordered didn't materialize, the just kept completely silent! Amazing reaction. Not one apologetic mumble. Almost hilarious. The two elderly gentlemen manning the concierge desk in the morning however were helpful and polite. What a contrast. Dare I say ... Age and experience makes a difference!

I've stayed at the Bay View previously and was more than happy to go for a second visit, this time booking a deluxe room. The hotel has lots of good points - the rooms are big, its in an ideal location for visiting the historic parts of Georgetown and is close to the Red Garden which serves some of the best food in town. We found all the staff we met very friendly.
The pool is a bit small and in shade most of the time and the water cold (even the jacuzzi isn't that warm) so don't go expecting to lounge around in the sunshine! There is internet access for those who don't have their own devices but this is charged for at 8Rm for half an hour and wasn't that fast on the day we needed to use it.
The staff on arrival were friendly and efficient, and the room was spacious and comfortable but we did have some issues with the housekeeping.
We were left short of towels and had to ask for more (which we got), the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly each day but reporting this twice to reception didn't get any response, and we were missing a mat one day which never materialised when we asked for one. For some reason the cleaners were happy to wash the coffee mugs but would leave the dirty glasses next to them on the tray!
The general level of presentation in the bathroom wasn't what I expect from a hotel, eg the shower screen was clean but needed a good polish to get rid of the water marks and smears. It all felt a bit uncared for, and this is a shame. None of this is a disaster, the Bay View is actually a nice hotel and I hope they sort out the house keeping to keep it up to the mark of a 4* hotel.
