“Historical Enthusiast Galore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

If you're deeply into history and culture and have a strong interest in war artefacts, Fort Cornwallis would be on such place to relive the moments. Depending on the interest of a particular person, you may find that your time spent here being highly variable. I've done some visiting here as a student in the past for research purposes and lately, I did another visit after learning that a lot of upgrades, restoration works, excavation finds and information has been put up.

You will never find your time a waste if you plan to come here to pick up a thing or two of the significance of the fort and what interest it used to serve back then during the British days. For visitors who don't mind learning the early days about Penang, this is the perfect place to start before venturing onto the heritage trail. Photography opportunities aplenty here. There's a mock model of a soldier's tent here as well and a lighthouse.

“History underfoot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

If you are interested in history, this is a must see site, there is not a lot to do inside the fort, but it is being added to gradually..Every time I visit there is something new.the kiosk is just that" a kiosk" there is cold drinks ice cream and precious little else, rather refreshing really!! However next time I go it could be upgraded. If you have the time and opportunity, google fort Cornwallis Penang before you go,it makes the experience a bit more real I think. However accept it as it is and enjoy.By the way there is a very small entry fee.

“They really need to do something”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

The place has so much history and then what. It looks neglected and there is really not much going on. What a shame. The huge cricket ground, beautiful historical buildings all around and then a fort in disrepair. Do something Georgetown! Make this a good experience. Add some life to the place.

“Interesting for 1/2 an hour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

It's the remains of a small fort (mostly just the walls, an ammunition store and a chapel) that's quite interesting for a little while and entry is cheap. More historical information throughout the fort would be nice. There's been an attempt to provide historical information in one area but it's extremely text-heavy and lacks context for most European visitors. Good views from the walls.
