They have refined these using French cooking techniques and innovative produce to deliver surprising new twists on this already fascinating cuisine. The effect is simple, delicious full of flavour and dazzling.A four course degustation menu of entrée, main course, vegetables and dessert is served in Chinese style to allow guests to share the dishes. The Baba Bar is open daily from 2pm onwards, with live piano music in a very intimate setting.

“Seven....stars”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

This was definately the culinary highlight of our Malaysian journey - a wonderful re-discovery of Nyonya cuisine. In fact, at Kebaya one could say that it's been re-invented: all those traditional herbs ,spices and essential ingredients are still there but have been expertly tweaked and tuned and the result is sensational. I'll remember in particular the duck with star-anis and the light and witty starters. The service was as good as the feast we found on our beautiful flower- patterned plates and, just as important, we could hear ourselves talk. A perfect evening !

“the classiest place in georgetown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Kebaya is in a totally different plane compared to all the food and beverage outlets in Penang. Finally, there is a place you can actually sit and savour the food. This is not a place for hurried dinners - it is best to make reservations and the first thing you do is to order a glass of wine while taking pleasure in admiring the elegance of the bar and the tasteful interiors. They also have a piano player on weekends and on holidays. The fusion of flavours in their food is refreshing - it is something you have to relish. I went there a few times and the smiles of the staff are genuine, they even remember my drink. The best part is, it is non-smoking!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

First time of "Nyonya Food". I would say, it was a fantastic night in Georgetown (Penang).
The food is superb from starter, main course to dessert. (My fav is "Crab curry")...the decor, the ambience, services staff is nice.

A must visit when in Penang!!!!

“High expectations - disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013 via mobile

We wanted to try due to good reviews onTA. Average food, main course(the recomended duck) was burned and destroyed. No reason to go back. For the price of 100 RM pr person it was a disaster.

“Outstanding meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013 via mobile

We had read a lot about Kebaya as well as The Seven Terraces where it is located, and decided to have my birthday dinner there - and what a wonderful meal it was!

As past reviews have mentioned, their set meal at RM100++ per person consists of an appetizer, main, vege dish and dessert. As there were five of us, their affable staff recommended we take four sets where we can choose a range of dishes from their menu. Good call as the dishes were huge, more than enough to share between five hungry people!

We had their Pie Tee and Pork Mantao to start. Our mains were the Lamb, Chicken Kapitan, Prawn Curry and Duck; plus the Sambal Vege and Tempura Vege. Desserts we had the Pandan Creme Brûlée, Gula Melaka Mousse, Tongyuen and Tab Tim Krob. Each and every dish were delectable and memorable in its own way. And what a novel concept, cooking our respected Nyonya food with French techniques!

The interior was beautiful, ambience warm and cozy with a live pianist in the neighboring Baba bar. The restaurant is smart enough for a special occasion, while casual enough for locals to go in their Bermudas for a good meal out. Parking is by the narrow road it's located, and not easy to find! We will definitely go out of the way to have a meal in Kebaya again.
