“Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

I and my family stayed at this beautifully renovated hotel for five nights in January and we had a wonderful time.It is a beautiful haven to walk into for any traveller, let alone someone who has just broken her arm in KL! The staff, led by Ewan(GM) are so friendly, capable and efficient. Nothing is too much to ask for. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated, the bathrooms fabulous, rainforest shower luxurious!
The hotel is in the heart of old Georgetown and most attractions and restaurants etc are within walking distance.
The restaurant is not to be missed. A special menu and superb food. Again service a strong point.
This hotel is a special place and should not be missed by anyone who visits Georgetown.

Room Tip: Choice of rooms is available. Rooms are with or without stairs. If its affordable go for the luxurio...

“Stunning restoration backed by impeccable service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013 via mobile

I booked 7 Terraces after reading the reviews and was not disappointed. Though the booking process through the hotel website was glitchy, it only took a phone call to resolve. From the moment we arrived to our departure the next day, the service was exemplary and cheerful. Kudos to Yunn, Wayne, Ewan. The restoration of the 7 dilapidated terrace houses was inventive yet kept to the Peranakan style with an airy courtyard and typical thresholds. Special mention has to be made of the spacious bathroom with a true rain shower mounted on lofted height ceilings. Our suite had an ornate opium bed in the living area! This is truly a centrally located boutique hotel with only 18 suites and a service staff who go beyond the call of duty to assist their guests. I will be back on my next trip to Penang.

“A little bit special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Stayed here one night after booking at last minute. Very friendly staff, great feel with beautiful renovations/furniture, etc. Had dinner at the restaurant - great food and excellent value for 4 courses for 100MYR.
Would be a very romanticdestination for couples.
Located in heart of historic Georgetown. Was hard for taxi to find due to little lanes etc in this area. Be prepared for sights and smells and sounds of real Asia (not a sanitised resort) outside your window shutters.
A liitle bit of safe adventure.

“Civilised Peranakan Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

My family and i stayed in this beautiful boutique 18 room hotel for just two nights at very short notice to experience Georgetown and the Peranakan flavour of old Penang. We stayed in the two bedroom Stewart Apartment with our two children 10 and 12 yrs and loved every minute in the hotel which has been beautifully restored and modernised without detracting at all from its old world charm. Fixtures and fittings are new and the whole hotel has a rare elegance that will ensure its success for a very long time. (The owner's own antique art collection of furniture and crockery and Straits Chinese era art is on display in the hotel - see images).

All the staff without exception were extremely helpful and respectful and kind to myself, my wife and two children.

This hotel was so good that I had to write a review as it really deserves all the accolades which no doubt will be heaped upon it as time goes on.

So many good things about this hotel. The photographs should tell you the story. Many hotel photographs are not an accurate depiction of the reality of the hotel itself and the hotel usually disappoints. I can safely say that my photographs are not as good as the reality of the hotel.
Book this hotel immediately and you will not be disappointed.

Food:
We ate in the hotel restaurant twice. Once for dinner and once for lunch. (We were actually the first guests to have lunch in the hotel). The dinner was excellent with a delicious local flavour and surprisingly reasonably priced. We also ate at local food courts and enjoyed them as well.
Although the dinner was excellent the lunch was not. I can only put this down to the youth of the hotel and am sure in time it will rise to the standard of the remainder. (As a suggestion to the menu writer - offer a very limited but tasty selection of "westernised" food but stick to local food as the mainstay. All you need is a few noodles and even a chicken rice or some fish head curry. Get rid of the Chicken schnitzel (or whatever that was and the mediocre hamburger and you will please all of the people all of the time).

Ok back to the other little negative thing which is far easier to fix. Although the beds were supremely comfortable and clean white sheets a great delight the two pillows I had were really springy and i had a hard time sleeping on them. A lovely fluffy down pillow can make a huge difference - please buy a set of these and put them in all the rooms).
All this being said I am sure these very minor things will be ironed out in time and this will be one of the top boutique hotels year after year.

In a way unfair to end on these two negatives because it was such a delightful, elegant, civilised hotel and a refreshing break from the generic sanitised experience of a resort or larger hotel.

I have no hesitation saying that his hotel was among the top five I have ever stayed in and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wanting to have a civilised taste of peranakan life without the creaky floorboards and spiders !

Well done Seven Terraces.

I stay here at the moment and belief this place will be very soon very busy. Great resort in the city with a lot of personal touch and attention. Very well done... Be soon back with my partner and will stay longer, it's everything in walking distance and quiet aria close to little India and all other Georgetown historical city.
