“Inspirational Dim Sum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Authentic old world charm. Old aunties pushing carts and recommending the good food. Place a bit difficult to find as it was located in almost same looking heritage shops, but definitely worth the effort.

Best part is the food itself. Everything looks so appetising , and makes me so greedy until it is difficult to stuff it into the stomach. The dim sum seems to diverge from the standard fare. For eg. there is an octopus filled fish ball, shark fin (look alike) siew mai etc. They even manage to merge a rice dumpling together with a meat bun (look for the spiral type).

Old aunty is helpful and chatty, even recommended us good places frequented by locals such as char kuey tiao, cendol etc.

“One of the best Tim Sum in town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

This is one of those restaurant that could last a few generations. The restaurant open from early in the morning (6am) till 11 plus late at night. Personally, I would prefer to visit this place at night, where the crowd is not that many. It is very hard to grab a car park or even a seat during the peak time, especially over the weekends from 8 to 11am.

One of the best dish for breakfast is their rice congee. At night they, they do serve other Chinese cuisine apart from Tim sum. Unlike other restaurant, the all the waitress here are well beyond 50s. It tells us of the years of establishment, these people has been they since the 1960s....

We love the food there, the people they, and the way they serve with carts. As a Penangite, I personally like to see this type of restaurant stays here forever. With some good Chinese food, good Chinese tea, you could either spend some quality time all by yourself with a newspaper or even strike a great conversation to friends and family.

“Glad we managed to squeeze this into our breakfast schedule”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

The place has lots of old charm – grumpy old aunties working as waitresses yet they will not miss the opportunity to encourage customers to try “the best of the best dim sum, trust me”, delivery system moving in anti-clockwise direction where push carts/trolleys are used, piping hot yummy dim sum.

The place seems to be packed at all hours by locals and tourists alike.

When you’re done, sit back, relax and watch the old grumpy old aunties in motion. Priceless! Had about 8 courses shared by 2 + Chinese tea cost RM40/US$13.

Oh .. I love the chicken porridge best!

“Nanna heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

This eclectic little restaurant serves the most amazing breakfast dim sum. Get there early and prepare to be dazzled by the vast array of dim sum home cooked and served by little old ladies. It's like going to a womens institute fete where all the nannas compete to have the best food. They push little carts around tempting you with their freshly prepared delicacies. Not really sure what we ate but it was all amazing - the only problem is you have to be prepared to eat a big breakfast as the food is so good.
We also went there for lunch when they serve regular chinese food. And whilst the experience is a little less surreal the food was still amazing
