“Quiet, clean and centrally located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We stayed 3 nights here and had to move out for our last 2 as they were full. Our room was pretty small (squeeze thru a 6 inch/15 cm space between bed and wall) but clean and well equipped. Hotel is set back off the street so pretty quiet. WiFi OK tho choppy sometimes. TV, fridge, AC. No restaurant or drinks available in hotel. Their own parking lot so convenient and safe.

Room Tip: Avoid near the front desk as rooms are smaller and more people coming by. Front on first floor look...

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights from 13 July to 16 July. No regret having booked for 3 nights. The location is right smack in town and easily accessible especially to Penang famous food stops. For 3 nights we were there, the hotel staff make up the room everyday and kept the aircon switched on whenever we are back to the hotel (p/s: whether we went back in the afternoon after a short walk, towards evening or at night, the aircon is like forever switched on). So it is so nice to always go back to a cool room after such a hot walk outside.

For the 3 nights that we were there, this hotel have had full house. Book early with them if you wish to stay.

Room Tip: If you need Wifi badly, request for a nearer to router/lobby room. We stayed at Room 116 (Std Double...

Georgetown is relatively expensive for this part of the world, and it can be hard to find quality accommodation at a budget price. Chulia Heritage set back off the Main Street, keeping things quiet, while still remaining close to the action. The rooms are a good size, with cable tv, and wifi in most rooms. The hotel is clean and well run. The only down side is there is no bar or restaurant, but there are plenty to choose from in the area.

Hubby, myself & my 4 month boy visited Chulia Heritage hotel few months ago. Upon reaching Georgetown, I rang up the hotel & asked for assistant because we were kinda lost here. One of the staff told me this, " since you are not familiar about the direction to get here, I will meet you where you are & I can lead you the way to Chulia if you wish". We told him where we were & he rides all the way from the hotel & bring us there.

Upon check in, we were told that our room has been upgraded to family room which is bigger & nearest to the hotel lobby. He said, ma'am, because u have a baby, it is more convenient to stay near the lobby. I salute them with such excellent service & 2 big thumbs up to the staffs!

The room are clear & neat. The location is strategic for the tourists. We enjoyed staying there & we will sure be going back very soon.

Great Hotel, with clean fresh rooms all in white, a great shower, OK WIFI, great service and a great atmosphere. We were upgraded to a suite, two double beds with bathroom. One of the great things is the location, firstly in the Penang Heritage area and then back off the street, therefore no street noise. We only stayed overnight as we had a connecting flight but would have liked to have stayed a few more days. Restaurants, bars, 711 etc are just around the corner. Try not to arrive to Penang during peak hour traffic , 50 minutes from the airport to get to the hotel but only 25 minutes to get back. We loved it and definitely recommend the Chulia Heritage Hotel.

Hi...this is a lovely old hertiage building in the old town of Penang. Very clean with a great location.... The shared bathroom is very clean but can be very slippery as the showers are above the toilets...extreme care is required....It is quite noisy at night due.......
A lovely old character building in a greta location....The red Garden night market nearby is great for meals at night....

Room Tip: Get a room without a shared bathroom if thuis suits you better....take care on the slippery floors

We stay in this hotel located in the city centre of Penang, closed to many famous Penang eateries. From the hotel we could walk to Toh Soon Cafe located in a back lane of Kimberly Street for our breakfast. This cafe is famous for coffee, kaya toast, half boil eggs and Penang Chief Minister used to have breakfast here too. Another famous stall is Teochew traditional chendol and ABC (air batu campur) near Penang Road. Six of us stay in 2 rooms, 2 ladies in a double room with attached bathroom at ground floor; 3 adults and a youth in a family rooms, easily and comfortably accommodate 4 of us with 2 queen beds on the first floor. It was a unique experience that all rooms guest going up the first floor have to leave their shoes downstairs. The floor on upstairs are wooden and in facts all rooms are wooden. And they are all painted in white, very classic and lovely. Most of all, the rooms are cheap if you book in advance. The double room cost RM120 and the family room only cost RM140.
