“Double the price of nearby hostels. Noisy acoustics. Air con good, very clean, modern bathrooms. Great location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW via mobile

Paid 45 renminbi per night 4 person dorm. Key deposit required. Price not far off a basic private hotel room. Nearby hostels 15-25 renminbi dorm room. Some air con, most not. I'd recommend it if on a budget but wanting good bathroom and clean rooms.

Decor and rooms clean and modern. Felt a little sterile but was quiet. Apart from the floors which made every footstep vibrate the floors and loud when heavy walkers passed by.

Overall a good clean modern hostel with prices above the rest. Apart from rooms no other amenities like other hostels ie rooftop, lounge areas. Basic but clean.

Bunk beds are king singles, good if you like space or are tall. Linen and towels clean and new. 4 person dorm room. Not grungy at all.

Three showers and three toilets for the floor with 40+ guests if full. Other floors for private rooms and areas may be different. Air con in rooms was great, cafe downstairs basic.

No real place to hang out unless you buy a drink at cafe. Hangout area is hallway really so talking etc disturbs rooms 3 feet away and hot during day.

Showers clean. Male cleaning staff - be warned bathrooms are open plan.

Frosted glass shower doors was a little embarrassing being a female traveller with non segregated bathroom. Hot water pressure fantastc .

Lockers for rooms are small if you have a large backpack more than a sports bag you aren't going to fit in them.

Location central to free bus, heritage area and historic attractions. Easy to find after arriving on ferry from butterworth. Opposite a cat cafe .
Less than 3 minutes from number 8 bus stop on free shuttle which picks up from ferry stop bus terminal 2. Get off stop 8 and walk back to 3 way intersection and walk down the laneway with subway.

One issue - Very noisy floors wooden with some carpet -every footstep was like an elephant passing by.

Rooms dont have windows this might make some people feel a little claustrophobic but the small number of people in rooms offset this.

Free bicycles for guests a great thing and reception staff speak very good english and very helpful. Cafe staff do not speak English.

I tried backpacker hostel in Taipei. This is my first try in Penang.

The stuffs are friendly, environment is comfortable, toilet are clean. Location is very strategic, with 5 minutes walking distance you can reach those famous local food, cafe, public transport, etc.

I love their breakfast because they served roti canai, one of our famous local food in Malaysia.

However, a little bit disappointed is the room's sound insulation. A gang of teenager staying beside our room and shouting in the middle of night, but after they checked-out everything is okay.

Still recommended. =)

Stayed for a week whilst in Penang and it was a nice hostel with good facilities. The dorm was four person with a little light and locker per person which was nice and the room was a good size. The downstairs area had drinks available with a good TV area to chill in, was an enjoyable stay

The hostel has been around for a few years now and the owners have done a great job maintaining the space. It looks new, spacious and freshly renovated - very pleasant. I traveled with my two sisters and we spent two nights here. Room is spotless and shower is strong. The host even offered us cutlery and utensils warmly upon seeing us with packed food from outside, even though they have some sort of menu of their own (Now, this is a pleasant surprise in contrast to some hostels I've encountered elsewhere, where no outside food is allowed AT ALL and no communal dining area besides the dismal restaurant owned by the same people). Penangites are generally very friendly and welcoming :)

The only caveat for us is the mosquito problem when night falls, which I think the owners are already trying to control.

Organized, clean, and it's just comfortable.
The 24 hours free cookies is a great feature.
The air-conditioner of room 212 is not cold enough and slow to cold-up the whole room.
Wi-Fi signal strength is okay.
The breakfast is a bit too dull and taste just average.
Too few parking space for cars.
Service very good.
Overall, it's a great accommodation with a great price.

Love this hostel. They have few female dorms upstairs and mix gender dorms(with friends) with 4 beds and 6 beds that are double decker, there's private room for friends who don't want to share the same room with strangers but the price is slightly more expensive compared to upstairs' dorms. The rooms are clean and neat, I love how the staff are so friendly and the boss too! Haha not bad, I recommend this hostel! ;)

I stay here every time I go to Penang - the room is clean, comfy, and staff are friendly, not to mention location is great too. Plus, safety is a big deal for me, and I definitely felt safe here. And if you're unsure of where to eat, etc. the staff, manager and even the owner are more than happy to recommend their favs!

Room Tip: I stayed in the single room and it's awesome!
