“unforgettable gastronomical experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

For a place called no eyed deer, this quaint and cosy restaurant is full of ideas. We decided to give this place a try after all the hawker food we had had for two days prior. We ordered the mutton rogan josh, laotian laksa and chicken parmigiana. All completely diverse dishes but they all had one thing in common....each one delectable to the very last bite.
The mutton rogan josh was so well balanced with all the spices complimenting the dish...not the slightest hint of one overwhelming the other. The meat was tender and buttery, with a melt-in-the-mouth quality. This meat was accompanied by biryani rice which was cooked just right. Next up was the laksa. The spicy broth was a feast for the palate....tangy and sweet and spicy all at the same time! Every bite was like christmas in the mouth.
My daughters had the chicken parmigiana. The chicken was moist and flavourful. The salad was crunchy and fresh. This dish had a lasagna-like quality and Was a huge hit with both my girls, both of whom are picky eaters in their own way.
We tried 4 desserts...creme brulee, tiramisu, coffee jelly and the upside down ice cream. The coffee jelly was very interesting...not in the least bitter and complimented by a milky, creamy sauce. The brulee had a wonderful texture and was just right in terms of sweetness. The tiramisu had a good body and had just the right amount of liqueur. Oh, and please do remember to try the Drama Queen...a refreshing and delightful fruit punch with chunks of fruit in it.
All in all, a fitting end to our culinary adventure in penang....our visit to No eyed deer was enriched by talking to its fine owner, Ken Low. A soft-spoken gentle soul who is great with kids and has a wealth of knowledge about penang street food.
Be sure to visit No eyed deer for the great food and tap Ken's insider knowledge of penang

“Dessert Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

Recently the restaurant came up with some 'new' dessert, and Tiramisu and Strawberry Mess were our favourites.

The Tiramisu consists of just-nice proportion for every ingredient that put together. We especially like the little dampness in the Tiramisu.

I personally love the Strawberry Mess: though messy looking, the combination sure satisfied my taste buds... oh, not to mention this is one colourful mess ^o^
