“Tiny room, smelly bathroom”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2014

The room is very very tiny
You cannot open a backpack in it. Sheets very dirty, rotten, ripped and smelly.

Bathroom almost impossible to use. Leaking and smelly all the time.

You need the owner to enter and leave because he locks everything (he is afraid of theifs). He only has two hard wood tables (pretty much impossible to lift, let alone steal) and one computer from 1992.

Location is good, but looking around Georgetown you can find better looking places 10 rm cheaper.

This house is 120 years old and the manager is a very friendly guy with lots of good recommendations, especially about food. Location is quiet and the house really has charm.
Theres a downside tho, the double beds are very small, lots of mosquitos in the house(but at least mosquito net).
Floor of the rooms are dusty, all over the house. The beds are clean but smelly, of wetness. The rooms are very small and open on the top so you can hear your neighbours talk very good. The Bathroom, well, it fullfills its purpose. I dont recommend to stay longer then 1 night. If you want to travel back in time, literally, you should come here.

Nice area. Staff are friendly and helpfull however you get locked in and out of the hotel on occasions when the staff go for dinner. The rooms are rustic and different not too clean and there's a lot of bugs that bite due to the wood everywhere toilet in ladies leaks and showers are terrible but it's a good place for the budget backpacker

The house is amazing, it's an old house very nice. The rooms are very small but it's enough for a short stay. Good location. But the best is the owner. Very nice, very helpful. Nice talk with him. We are from Chile and we were traveling a lot for Asia, and he is the best person that we knew so far.

This place isn't like anything I saw in the website featuring rustic rooms and a rooftop lounge. It's all gone now, and to make matters worse, the taps are rusted and the roof leaks. I discovered to my horror this morning after a heavy downpour early in the morning, that all my clothes and documents left on the dorm bed next to mine, were soaked and damaged! I will never recommend this place to any backpacker, unless he/she is prepared to share the room with mosquitoes and damp beds....

Room Tip: any other room but here!

Locked in for 5 hours then locked out...had it sit on the pavement for 40 minutes waiting to be let in. Shower only available in men's toilet. No atmosphere. Museum has been closed for 10 years. Some nice pieces of furniture but nothing is displayed, it was like staying in a warehouse. No locks from inside the rooms. Fan so covered in dust it spat flecks of ancient grubbiness over us and the bed. No tea or coffee facilities. Jeremy was pleasant enough.

The guesthouse is situated on Cintra street in Georgetown, which is only a few minutes away from everything happening in the city center. It is an absolutely beautiful place for the backpacker to stay. It is a 130 years old building, which also serves as museum sometimes. The only staff-member, Jeremy, is a great guy. Very good company, knows a lot about Georgetown, and is always there for you. I stayed in the dorms, which were 20mr per night. Basic, good beds and working fans.

I would definitely recommend this place for every backpacker, since the atmosphere is great and a good spot to discover georgetown.

Tips for georgetown: Reggae club on Chulia road, and have some food at 83 across the street on Cintra.
