I have been here several times. This is a typical indian kind of a place where you see majority people are malaysians of indian ethnicity. Its an area that has a lot of shops selling things mainly imported from india, from clothing, gold jewelry, indian food, groceries to musics. There are ample of shops selling indian clothing such as saree and kurta which is imported from india and is sold in a reasonable price. However you can always bargain for a cheaper price. There are also a lot of restaurants (including budget meals and fine dining) that serve indian style food. They are open for breakfast right up to dinner. However check for its cleanliness before having your meal as there as some restaurants which compromise in this. No problem for vegetarians. You can have a wonderful choice of vegetarian meal, all typical indian style. Many restaurants here get their cook and spices from India to maintain its authenticity.
Shops here close by 10pm. And the area becomes very quiet and unsafe after that.
Safety issues: This place is generally safe during day and night while the shops are open. Shop owners are mostly friendly. However always beware of pick pockets. You will be walking through narrow lanes which is also shared by cars and motorcycles. So be careful, you may get knocked easily by a passing by vehicle. (Malaysian drivers are not kind to pedestrian, and they may be rude and careless most of the time).
Negative points: This place can be very crowded especially during office hours. Music shops may blast their music to the road, which can be very deafening and annoying. Cleanliness is average. Not many parking bays for your car. You have to hunt for a parking. Not disabled friendly.
