We stayed for several days in Ocean Wing rooms. The rooms were basic but clean and represented good value for money. The main pool was a little crowded but the rectangular pool in front of the Pacific Wing rooms was deserted and just lovely. The beach is outstanding - long with plenty of space, great for sunsets, shade available if required and gorgeous sand.

The main restaurant lacked character and, with most guests eating on a meal package, resembled more of an institutional dining hall with lots of tables in rows under bright lights. By contrast, eating at the 'A la carte' Pacific Restaurant proved to be very, very good indeed. Superb food which, when compared to European & UK prices, was reasonably priced. They did both lunches and dinner.

Highlights included watching the daily evening feeding of over 2 dozen wild hornbills each evening next to the pool and seeing lots of wildlife in the hotel's expansive and beatiful grounds (otters, birds, large monitor lizards and monkeys).

This is not a 5* sophisticated hotel. It is a beautiful 'no shoes, no news' kind of place for relaxing and getting away from it all.

My only criticism of the hotel was the shambolic check-out debarcle where the staff's priority seemed to be on arriving guests rather than those that were checking out in time to catch the return boat to Lumut. There were 3 people serving arriving guests but sadly only 1 person able to do departing guests. The reception desk staff''s attitude was dreadful, unlike tose helpfull chefs and waiters at the food outlets.

I manage to get and extremely good rates on the hotel so can't complain much. But if I need to pay the usual rate of RM400 per room/ night, my advise, stay somewhere else. I had the Pacific wings rooms and it comes with Breakfast and BBQ dinner. Pacific wings are old and cleanliness not up to 4 star standards. There's no Iron/ ironing board, no face towel, no body lotion or conditioner provided. Just standard basic amenities and very thin bedroom slippers. TV are old big black box 21' CTV. Beds are low quality but the feathers pillow are good. Most of the lamps in the room are not working so dun bother to change as we had 3 rooms, non of the rooms have all the lamps that works. Pool size is average but luckily there's 2 pool. But pool water not very clean as they didn't control ppl from gg str8 to pool from beach. Alot of malays that wore t-shirt and shorts into the pool. Seems like Pangkor and the resort is a heavenly retreat for the noisy locals for corporate event. Most Pacific rooms are blocked by trees so no sea view, especially those on the 3rd Floor, avoid 3rd floor rooms. The Bigger the no of the rooms, the more possibility the views being blocked and hidden at the back. e.g. I had 265 (Good sea view), 378 & 380 (can only see trees and neighbours. rooms start from X61. If possible, get the Ocean wing rooms as they have better views and cleaner rooms, but old furniture. But still, the the Sea villas or Garden villas offers the best view and privacy. If can afford, need not consider other rooms at all. Breakfast is average but dinner is a disaster. Variety not extensive and quality is low. Beach is also not fantastic as compared to other beaches in Malaysia, Thailand or Indonesia. If u're a tourist, visit Pangkor only if u intend to stay in Pangkor Laut Resort. Or else, most of the resorts here are infested by locals and Government staffs, especially weekends or school holidays. I will definitely not return to Pangkor givn the fact the beach is not clean and view is average. And no resorts are up to international standards (except Pangkor Laut).

Well I stayed here for 5 nights, the staff were great and very attentative however I found the rooms to be very dated. If you don't like wild life this may not be the place for as would see many monkies all over the resort espacially in mornings, they didn't really bother what did bother me was the mnute we left our rooms in the evening there were baby lizards all over the builing I really did not enjoy the walk to the restaurants in the evenings but I guess that was just me not liking anything that's not human.

Food was good a great choice to choose from, the beach was pretty nice and the water was warm...over all we had a nice stay.

Just stayed there 2 days ago..must agree the hotel definitely needs some room upgrades as the furniture are getting a bit rundown and the bathroom needs an uplift but overall its ok for me and my partner. I stayed in Pacific Wing and the view from my room's balcony was amazing! Although slightly blocked by the palm trees, the seaview was amazing, very much relaxing and we can even see the sunset from our room! Thanked god we didn't book the garden wing as it looks really further from the beach and it looks so quiet and eerie, for 30bucks difference, I rather take an upgrade..

The private beach was slightly above our expectations as I've stayed in Swiss Garden Damai Laut before and their beach is dirty. The beach here looks fine although no coral or in-sea view worth snorkeling about..

We didn't take the breakfast set so no complain on the food..the hotel was overall quiet on the weekdays and good for honeymooners..not sure about school holidays and weekends though..Need to take a van-cab to travel out for food coz the hotel is very far from the restaurants outside..40bucks per return trip per group..saw a group of 5 and they were charged same price with the two of us..good money to earn eh?

The location is fantastic .. lovely private beach and amazingly not crowded for a holiday weekend. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the hotel rooms could do with an upgrade but this does not detract from the general enjoyment. We spent a relaxing and enjoyable long weekend here and have just booked to go again at the end of the year. Note: not really worth paying more for the Ocean Wing. We did not use the balcony (has to be kept closed because of monkeys) and slightly bigger room not important. Pacific Wing is cheaper and rooms are smaller but just as close to the beach so more value for money.
