“My mistake....too much expectation earlier!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

3 days/2 night short beach get away!
Can't believe it that we've finally make it! This was my first visit to Pangkor Island and decided to stay in Pangkor Island Beach Resort as recommended by one of our friend. Our reservation request was being handled by Ms Dian Kharisma, which she has extended a very prompt reply to our reservation confirmation.
My husband and I were so excited for this trip. We were impressed that Pangkor Island Beach Resort does have their own arrival counter, located in Jetty Lumut. We were being pre-register at the counter and they took our luggage from there. I just feel a bit insecure to see our luggage just being unattended outside of their counter. Luckily nothing bad happened and we did not lose our luggage. Suggestion: Get proper secure luggage storage.
Upon arrival at the resort, we were greeted by one of their Guest Relations Officer and welcome drink being served to us upon registration. As our original booking is for Garden Wing, the Receptionist just told us that we need to walk one round behind their counter towards the Garden Wing and guess what? Who got lost our way!
We manage to find our way to the room and it’s located nearly towards to the end of the building! I’m not sure if this is the standard of their ‘warm’ service for us to find our own room, despite only us and another couple who’s arriving together with us, which was being attended by another Receptionist.
Another surprise when we entering our room, we being given (or upgrade?) to a Garden Wing FAMILY ROOM when it’s only two of us. I guess perhaps they could seriously consider upgrading us to a better room since the resort is quiet when we arrive on Sunday evening.
Try not to be so disappointed, otherwise will definitely ruined our holiday! We did enjoy the sunset in the evening. We did approached the Recreation Counter to book for the next day snorkeling trip as the requirement is one day notice, however was told that they need at least 4 pax for the trip and at the moment only us is asking for it. Well, we have to forget it about that plan after all.
Upon our dinner at their coffee house, one of their staff was very friendly, sorry that I did not catch his name. But he seems surprise when we give out our room number to sign our dinner charges...seem that your own staff not aware about the existing of our room number.
The next day, we just hang around by the beach and the swimming pool. Well, this is the only thing that I could enjoy the most ON MY BIRTHDAY! Try to rent the snorkeling set from the Recreation Counter, but was told that there isn’t anything to see here! I don’t understand why they offering rental service for snorkeling set and told you that it was useless? We told him that it’s ok as we just want to use the snorkeling set and asked for the life jacket along. Another surprise!!! They don’t give out the life jacket with snorkeling set rental!
Once again, I tried to be calm and just cancel the plan of getting the snorkeling set. What else to do, just hang around by the beach side and enjoying the view, the beach and the pool.
We had lunch for Nasi Goreng on our second day and it was tasteless. We were too tired to go out for dinner and decided to order Rooms Service on our second night. It stated in their menu that Room Service last order will be at 11.30pm. However when my husband called at 10.30pm, they told him that Room Service is already closed for the day! We call back after confirm that the operation hours as stated should end at 11.30pm, then only they agreed to prepare our meal – Nasi Goreng Kampung, which is also tasteless and very similar with the Nasi Goreng that we had for our lunch. Suggestion: Please get your Chef to learn how to cook Nasi Goreng.
Overall experience, there isn’t any exceptional service that we can share here. Perhaps, just a double standard service because we choose and stay at their Garden Wing. Perhaps we might getting a much better service and recognition if we stayed in their Ocean View Room.
Yes..we will come back…Not because of their services, just because of their beautiful beach which is much better than Port Dickson!!! No more expectation after this…I promise!!

p/s: Please get a better…clearer TV channel!!

Room Tip: Go for Ocean View room...the view is better, the location is better and they might treat you better!

Went on a girls' beach trip ( three of us) to this resort for 5 nights and had a wonderful stay. Given the reasonable package deal for us sharing a Lanai room, we arrived with an open mind and were very pleasantly surprised. The location is fantastic, as the beach is secluded and private to all the hotel guests ( but large enough to have plenty of private space). Lush jungle surroundings and greenery right until the edge of the wide, sandy beach. The staff were friendly, but not overbearing. The atmosphere was very relaxed and service during meal times was good, although we did only eat buffet style and were very happy to serve ourselves from the excellent spread of the international buffet. More than enough choice for everyone ( one of us is vegetarian and this was no problem and staff keen to assist). The bus service from KL to ferry was prompt and clean. The help during ferry trip was fine. We also used the spa, where the staff again were friendly and there was a good selection of treatments. All in all, a wonderful trip was had by all three of us, fond memories of great food, peaceful beach setting and not forgetting wildlife (monkeys, hornbills, lizards!). I am already planning a trip back there to show my partner the delights of Pangkor.

We went to Pangkor Island Beach Resort for a short break from stress, just a 2D/1N stay. We booked a Pacific Wings room with buffet breakfast and buffet dinner as well but we got a room upgrade from Pacific Wing to Ocean Wing.

The Ocean Wing room, our room condition just meet the average rating. If done with some minor renovation and the changed of the TV set will be good but the view is FANTASTIC especially when you get up from the bed overlooking the window.

The private sandy beach is clean, the pool is clean too but at times you see the monkeys at the pool side wacking his tail. I can see the staffs is doing their job cleaning the pool early in the morning. Please keep up this good job.

The food is just at the average, not much selection especially the buffet dinner. I was told that there will be a BBQ pool side buffet dinner on every Wednesday night but only satay and BBQ fish with not much variety of some other food. Personally, I prefer the buffet breakfast to the dinner. Guess there is a less crowd of visitors on that day.

Overall the staffs are very friendly with smiling welcome.

I would recommend this resort for a quiet peaceful vacation. I will visit this resort again someday. Hope there will be some good changes.

I stayed here for working purpose 4D3N. The best word to describe is SUPERB. The place, the staffs, the room, the facilities, the beach, the service and everything was GREAT. From the Lumut jetty to your room, restaurant and meeting room you will walk with a smile and satisfaction. Highly recommend. I will definitely consider to have a trip again to this resort, for sure Thank you so much to all PIBR staffs and management. We have awesome working trip there. Well done. Keep up a good work.

Room Tip: Instead of Garden Wing room, maybe you can choose Pacific Wing. Anyway both are OK.

We stayed here in July, booked 2 rooms on the Pacific Wing, we were given 1 queen and was upgraded to 1 king suite.

We had an amazing stay at PIBR. From the minute we checked in at the Lumut Ferry Terminal counter until we leave, the staff of PIBR provided us with great service.

Hisham, counter staff at the Jeti helped us with another alternative way in getting the local ferry to Pangkor Island town and PIBR when we missed the. 11.00 am ferry. He was not just friendly and helpful, he also took great care and attention, seeing to my mother (who walks around with a cane) making sure she gets into the ferry with as much ease as he possibly could.

At PIBR, we were greeted by cheerful and friendly Samitha Ruth who showed us to our rooms and surprised us with a "welcome" bed lined with bougainvillea petals. My niece was "wowed" with this greeting and a picture of the bed is posted in her Facebook wall.

Great service was experienced throughout the hotel, from the restaurant are Zuriah & Ismail; front desk staff Sundar and the boys at concierge desk.

Lots of choices for buffet breakfast and dinner. We ate at the hotel during our weekend stay and found that there were enough variety for us to chose from.

Pangkor town is about 20 minutes drive.

Hotel has lots of room options, from garden view rooms, oceanview rooms to private villas and villas over the water.

Check with the reception for, there are different daily activities for the hotel guests, Our highlight during the stay, were watching the feeding of the hornbills in the evening on the beach near the pool.

Walking along the beach in the day or during sunset, sitting/resting in the lounge chair in a white picketed fence patio outside your own room (if you happen to have a ground floor oceanview room ) is another enjoyable thing to do.

We would like to thank you all staff of PIBR for such a pleasant and enjoyable stay in Pangkor Island.

We stayed for 3d2n at the pacific wing and the place exceeded our expectations! The location was very exclusive and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. Loved how well-kept the place is and the beach was clean as well. There were heaps of facilities, activities and programs lined up every night and we found it to be very kid-friendly as well. I'll definite recommend it to others. The only thing that were subpar was the fact that the Monkey Bar were most of the time unstaffed and made ordering food difficult. However, the grilled seafood was very good and affordable. We will definitely come back another time, in the ocean wing maybe!

Your stay at this resort starts from the moment you check in at the ferry terminal at Lumut (the multi-storey car park only cost us RM39 for 5 days!) and you don't see your luggage again until it is delivered to your room! The ferry takes about 30 minutes to the private jetty on the north of Pangkor, from where an old bus takes you the 700 metres or so to reception. Our room was in the Pacific Wing and was beautifully placed looking out over one of the two swimming pools on to the beach. Not the most modern room but full of charm with wooden floors, efficient (and adjustable!) air conditioning and a good bathroom. We had a minor issue with the shower fitting and sink plug, but these were resolved very quickly. Those with mobility problems might find the two steps down into the bedroom from the entrance/bath room level a bit awkward.

Although this is a large hotel with 258 rooms, it doesn't feel that large as a result of good design - small blocks that are well spread out. I did hear some moaning from guests in both the Pacific Wing and the Garden Wing about how far it was from their rooms to the restaurants, but, in truth, it is no more than a 300 metre walk at most!

There was low occupancy for the first three nights of our stay and it was very peaceful. But even when the occupancy increased at the weekend, the hotel never felt crowded.

There is some limited entertainment including a live group and a karaoke lounge, but this does result in any noise pollution to the guest bedrooms.

The private 1.2 km beach is very clean, and the sea is very inviting if you don't fancy either of the two pools. Although the hotel puts on a range of activities (some complimentary!) for both children and adults, everything is quite low key. We tried archery (RM10 for 1 hour) which was great fun.

Other reviewers have mentioned the wildlife - lots of hornbills and monkeys (keep your balcony doors locked as advised by the management) and we saw a 1.2 metre iguana and a similar length harmless tree snake. Be warned - don't leave food unattended at breakfast on the Hornbill Terrace or the hornbills or sparrows will have it!!

The breakfast buffet is varied (both western and local) and plentiful. We tried two of the buffet evenings in the Hornbill Restaurant; these were both good value (at RM65++ plus drinks) but, as usual with any buffet, there is a tendency to 'pig out'! Our last two evening were spent in the Pacific Terrace restaurant where we both had very good meals which surprisingly, with drinks, cost less than the buffets!

Free wi-fi is available in the hotel lobby and we were able to log on sporadically from our room.

Overall this is a very comfortable, unpretentious hotel with good service in a superb location. Ideal for a very relaxing break. Sunsets can be spectacular!

Room Tip: Pacific Wing rooms are slightly older but have a great deal of charm.
