We stayed 5 nights at Pangkor Laut. After careful consideration about what room to stay in at the time of booking, we chose a Hill Villa and we were blown away when we arrived. We asked for one with a view and we weren't dissapointed. I think we had the best room, it was central and the highest one so we looked staight out over the bay. The room itself was the best we've ever stayed in, with its huge stone bath, dressing area and seperate sleeping area. The balcony was spacious with 2 sun loungers, perfect for relaxing with a beer and admiring the view. We were on the Residents package, which included all our meals. I would definately recommmend the package as your food bill can get quite expensive and there's nothing worst than worrying about money on holiday.
The food itself is to a very high standard. I agree to a point with the other review about Feast Village but I suppose all resorts have a Feast Village type restaurant and we enjoyed our first meal there but wouldn't want tro eat there every night. Uncle Lim's is superb, it really is and it was included in our package. We ate at Uncle Lim's twice and both times we couldn't get in until after 9pm and I think we tried another night and it was fully booked, so you need to book early. Fishermans Cover was nice as well but I don't think it was better than Uncle Lim's and it wasn't included in our pacakage so I think it cost us an additional £100. Through the day, we spent the majority of our time at Emerald Bay and so eat our lunch at Chapmans Bar most days. The food is is very good and the menu is interesting so we tried to cover all the eastern dishes on there.
I would recommend getting a massage, both me and my partner enjoyed ours and it's very relaxing. You also get to use the Spa Village, which is a nice change to the normal pool area as it's quieter (no kids) and Jamu Bar, which does Japanese style food, was very good.
The pool area is lovely. The pool is a cobalt blue infinity pool overlooking the bay (I'm sure you've seen the pictures) and although quite small, it was never overcrowded so was perfect for a relaxing dip. Emerald Bay is beautiful and the water is clear and a good temperature but does get busy so although its not really in the sun until about 11am, get there early so you can get a good bed
We found that the activities (snorkelling trip and sunset cruise) were a touch on the expensive side but we really enjoyed the Sunset Cruise and its good to break up your normal evening routine.
As well as being an amazing resort, Pangkor Laut also has some great wildlife. Every evening at about 5pm we got our daily visit from the Hornbills. We also managed to get some great pictures of the Monitor Lizards. If you're staying in a Hill Villa, however, make sure you lock your door as we were woken at about 6am one morning by a monkey opening our doors (he was very cute though). We didn't go on the Jungle Trek but everyone who we spoke to said it was very good.
In summary, a beautiful resort and highly recommended
