“Best Budget Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014

It is right behind Impiana Hotel , Ipoh with the black ECOTEL signboard directing you. Good if you have your own transport and ample parkings, basement covered car parks and above open car park near ecotel lobby.
We have a very good rest as the hotel is extremely quiet, suits me, partly we were there during non peak. Strong supply of warm water for you to freshen up, rain showered, no bathtub . Firm beds. The rooms are suitable for couple as nowadays, hotels use glass partition for the bathroom to have a 'modern clean room'. It a shadow can't see clearly. The staff are friendly but the hotel policy is to pay rm50 deposit even though you have fully settled the room by credit card. Checkin and out is straightforward .
It is not far from town if you know Ipoh well. To get to Ipoh town, use the 'parallel front road' of Impiana Hotel to the next UMNO building or like going to the Chinese restaurant , Royal China of the Tai Thong group, end of the road, go to the main road to make a U-turn , drive to the 'fountain roundabout' keep left and you are already at Jln Sultan Iskandar heading into Ipoh town.
We saved on hotel charges and have a good shopping and eating trip in Ipoh . The hotel can call taxi for you and if you are in a group of 4 , it is saving.
Only negative is: The hotel staff must vacuum below the beds and a supervisor must check the rooms. I happened to touch the room telephone and it was sticky and oily. No pests nor bugs. If I am in Ipoh I will definitely stay in ECOTEL.

Room Tip: Cheap rooms no window in the basement but with exhaust fan. Window , rm10 more, air circulate but...

Booked for 2 nights. The hotel is not visible on the main road. I have to key in Impiana Hotel on my GPS to find the location of Ecotel hotel. There is a black Ecotel Hotel sign board by the side of the road once you passed Impiana Hotel. Turn into that road, pass 2 Chinese restaurants and there is a ramp that goes up to Ecotel Hotel.
We were greeted by Mr Lim; who is very friendly and helpful, the senior staff there. Check in was fast as we booked it online.
Cleanliness of the room was ok. But there were ants on the sink and table below the tv. Housekeeper helped us to 'clean up' the ants but it doesn't work. I ended up bringing home the ants with me!!! ( I hate ants and they hid inside my laptop!!!) I hope there is no ants in my luggage bags! Yucks.
I am not sure whether the wall in between the rooms are thin or not but I could hear the tv from next room ( it was so loud that it was almost like I was the one watching the tv). The problem was settled by Mr Lim in less than 3 mins after I called for help from the staff. This was what we called EFFICIENCY.
There were no street food restaurants nearby. But those famous Hakka food and Ipoh taugeh chicken rice restaurants were just about 15 mins drive.
Overall the stay was alright. Might go back to Ecotel hotel if we ever visit Ipoh again.

If u r looking for a average n budget hotel with bigger room then this maybe suit u... A bit far from town centre if u don't have ur own vehicle. Free parking, free breakfast but there's no restaurant inside the hotel, they'll give u a voucher to redeem at a local restaurant. no convenient store near by the hotel as well. But u can get the free refill drinking water at the lobby.. :) room n bed not so complete but u can't expect more since it's a budget hotel. A lot of ants in the room, table n floor, everywhere. The room I stay just beside the store room, the cleaner in n out, keep open n close the door during cleaning time was really disturb. Soundproofing need improve. The WIFI in my room not available as my room was in the corner area. Only grateful is all the staff here was really friendly n helpful.

Room Tip: Don't take the corner room as the WIFI not available.

For those on vacation and would like to cut some cost on accomodation, this is a good hotel for the backpacking travellers to enjoy their holidays. Rooms are clean and partially equipped with the basic necessity such as towels. You might want to bring your own shampoos, toothbrush & paste. We have really good times in Ipoh with less amount money spent!!
Well, since this is budget hotel, you cant expect a gym nor a restaurant there dont you? :)

A big room and special design large window where you can have vast view outside. But can only view large empty field outside.

Facilities, room and bed a bit rundown and need new refurnish. A lot of ants in the room, on the cabinet and on the sinks. Serious pest control needed.

Location far from town centre and stay only if you have transportation. Overall stay just average. Budget and good price for facilities provided.

Room Tip: Choose room with window view and prepare some tidbits as no convenient store nearby
