“Superb location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

This hotel is very near to those famous restaurants and foods. 7 eleven is just next to the hotel. Room is small but very clean and tidy. Rain shower bath, safe and LCD tv. The inconvenience is the hotel do not have their own parking, you have to park at an open parking which is next to the hotel's street and means u will get wet if raining. I will choose this hotel again if I travel to Ipoh.

I love this place! Rooms are nice, modern, clean and chic! The price was affordable and the cafe on the first floor was awesome! Best hotel breakfast I've had in a boutique hotel. It looks like Ben's Restaurant in KL with fresh bread/cookies/biscuits! I honestly did not expect Ipoh to have a hotel with a cafe like this. There's also a 7e store nex to the hotel and restaurants within walking distance. It was a pleasant experience staying here. Staff are super friendly - I accidentally left my glasses while I was there, they had it send via courier to me within a few days! No questions asked. Thanks French Hotel!!

Stayed for 2 nights and love the room design. Felt like home. Staffs were friendly and helpful especially on the matter of getting around for local food and getting taxi. I can still remember their names.

Cafe on the first floor (josephine or Jose&Deli..something) was quite nice, but extremely overpriced. For the same thing in KL, I wouldn't mind to pay the same, but this is ipoh...the price is ridiculous.

I will return to ipoh for more food and relax days, and if no other hotel comes up better in review, I will definitely return to this hotel.

The many write ups below are fair and accurate and i would agree this is a good business like hotel with new fittings, high level of cleanliness and some upmarket feel. The rainshower is a pleasant surprise though not easy to operate. The flooring is timber and welcome change from dank carpets.

We came here on 1st day of chinese new year and it costs us RM170++ for 3 of us in a spacious room. The downside of this hotel is perhaps lack of double glazing window and we could hear the traffic down below. If you are a local foodie there is many eateries 2 streets away, almost a local food paradise and the famous Foh Sun yumcha.

For those writers below who wrote that Ipoh is not worth a pitstop, please be sensitive and there are 600,000 inhabitants of Ipoh and many others whom have left Ipoh and love the place. Your comments lack sensitivity and I suggest you meet some locals and ask them for places to visit, you would be surprised what Ipoh has to offer- i post pictures below of the hotel as well as places of interest to dispell those writers whom say Ipoh is not worth looking around.

This is a good base for a day trip to the Cameron highlands. You will get far better value for your money if you stay here, however you do have to commit to a few hours of bussing each way. Staff is great, hotel is very nice and new, restaurant/coffee shop is excellent, but pricey by Malaysian standards. If for any reason you HAVE to be Ipoh, you must stay here.

If you must go to Ipoh (really reconsider), this is easily the best place to stay.

Pros:
-very clean !
-very helpful front desk staff
-total gem of a restaurant/bakery
-modern rooms
-rainfall shower

Cons:
-ipoh really sucks so you won't want to leave the hotel. (We have travelled all of malaysia and agree that there is no point going to ipoh)

A good recently modernised hotel and good value. In style it is furnished like one of the better Travelodges or Premier Inns in the UK-and that is in no way a criticism. Only comment I would make is that whilst the room was most acceptable for our stay given the price etc., a couple of fittings that had been broken had been badly refitted, and a couple of cracked tiles were already slightly marring the overall appearance of the room, even though recently refurbished. This style of room, if not carefully maintained, could look very shabby in a year or two. However, for our stay in early February we had no complaints.
